Christmas day started a tad shaky, with me up early after a rather late night. Not late night out partying mind you, but it was a night spent curled up with a good book and fabulous froyo.
Any bookworm can tell you it’s hard to put down a good book. But I kind of regretted it the very next morning waking up nursing a headache. LOL.

The newest and most promising French boulangerie and casual dining outlet commenced operations just last week.
I first got wind of it when Chef Paul of The Cooking Studio hinted at an upcoming French bakery during my Rachel Allen session just a month back. Chef Paul, who knew about my obsession with breads and desserts had confidently proclaimed that my woes of seeking good European breads here in KL are over.

If you don’t already know, I’m a burger addict. I love breads and I love meat. Pork burgers holds a stronger pull over me in comparison to any other meat but I would enjoy a good burger anytime!
After 6 days in Nepal, I came back all geared up to chow down some good burgers. I have in my list pork burgers in Ante, Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf and Moon at Damansara.
Since I have already tried Ante’s burger, I headed over to Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf (what a mouthful!) for some porky action.
The outlet was easy enough to find. Sad to say, it took over the space of our beloved organic vegetarian outlet – Country Farm Organics.
Since I knew what I wanted, I immediately asked for their Mighty Pork Burger but was suddenly distracted with the Tonkatsu Sandwich so I ordered that instead. The waiter took my order and then came back 5 minutes later to inform me that it wasn’t available. Slightly annoyed, I went back to my initial order of pork burger, but with the usual request of no mayo or butter.
When I was in Nepal for the Air Asia X CSR – One Child One Laptop Programme (OLPC); I remembered showing these bright, inquisitive children pictures of my life in KL. One of the folders they loved was this set of pictures from the Just Heavenly Cafe at Bangsar Shopping Centre.
They went oohh and ahhhh over these cute cupcakes and luscious cakes.
May I serve you some rubber rings?
Yes, that was precisely the texture of the stuffed squid we were served.
Over the long Raya holidays, I grabbed the opportunity to catch up with friends over food. The choice of food outlets were obvious; places that serves pork had always ranked highly on my list and any that serves pork burgers will have my dedicated attention.
I’m such a burger addict that I attempt to eat as many burgers (pork burgers preferably) as I could. It’s a personal obsession really; I love bread, I love meat, so burgers to me are just perfect.
If there’s a pork burger in town that you think I haven’t tried, drop me a note and I will make time to visit, even if some maneuvering around my challenging schedule is required! 🙂
The Elk at Solaris Mt Kiara is a convenient location. As soon as I was back from Hat Yai, I gathered a group of fellow foodies and headed there with high anticipation.
I’ll be heading to Urbano eFresco as the owner has invited me several times to sample the food. With Ramadhan coming to a close, I’ve finally almost finished all my Ramadhan reviews & now able to focus on other outlets. The Craft Bakers outlet you see below offers remarkable artisan breads freshly baked everyday. Check out their range HERE.
Now right opposite Craft Bakers and Urbano eFresco is Namoo on the Park. A cute name and an even quirkier cafe, Namoo caught my attention with its Rice Burger and cakes.

If you’re a lover of coffee, you have to be here. Michael (you would have seen him HERE ) now has a place to call his own. And if it’s your lucky day, he might be free enough to chat to you about coffee, an obvious passion of his!

But the pastries and cakes was awesome! I had an Apple Sicilian Cake (RM10) and shared a Cheesecake (RM10) with CH.
Baked by Amirah, Michael’s wife; all the displayed desserts looked incredibly scrumptious. I’m glad to report that my orders that day was satisfying and not overly greasy or sweet (a common unfavorable trait in desserts).
I have been to RAW coffee twice prior to this visit and I loved the place.
Oh, I haven’t blogged about it; simply because like all my other blogposts, it’s been sitting in drafts for like ….forever.. yes, cos I’ve been busy, REALLY BUSY.
But when an email came from Michael, (and it was a very adroit and articulately worded one too), I made exception to my “stay-home easy Sunday” policy to drive into the heart of KL; curious to meet the man behind the cafe/email, as well as to deepen my knowledge about coffee.
Upon arrival at RAW Coffee, we were asked if there was anything that we’d like to have, which we did order some sandwiches and soya milk (having coffee right before a coffee workshop is asking for caffeine OD, literally) since I haven’t had breakfast. Also, I had the sandwiches here before and I liked how they prepare it, healthy & fresh ingredients in wholemeal-based bread.
My order: Pumpkin Hummus and Veg Sandwich.
