Bukku Cafe @ Klang : Salted egg yolk croissant, books and coffee

When a Singaporean friend wants to meet for a while, with inconvenient timing at 8am on a weekday morning with only a few hours before he boards his cruise again at Port Klang; I could only think of Chong Kok, Sin Kok Thye and some bak kut teh places.

Googling didn’t yield much results for Klang cafes, as two (Seraph Awaken and another that I can’t recall now) were closed on Tuesdays, and others only operational from 11am onwards.

Fortunately, Joyce Lee came to my rescue and recommended Bukku Cafe. While she neglected to mention that Bukku isn’t anywhere near Klang town (I had to drive another 30 mins from Chong Kok Kopitiam!) the irritation of further driving was forgotten as I stepped into the cafe.

Charlie Cafe – Sarawak Laksa, UFO tarts, Chicken Chop

Much has been written about Charlie’s Cafe in Taman Desa.

The social enterprise with its Pay-It-Forward program, the founders’ policy of eliminating middle men and buying their supplies from local farmers, the massive chicken chop, the mouthwatering Sarawak Laksa and the luscious Musang King cheesecake – there are many good reasons to visit Charlie Cafe!

I personally had Charlie Cafe on my to-visit list for ages but Taman Desa is just “not convenient”.
That basically translates to “I’m lazy to drive further than 10 km out of TTDI”.

Anyhow, what got me to drop in finally was these “UFO tarts“!

Strangers at 47, Friends at 45 : 2016 new menu – new crepes, more savouries!

Strangers at 47 is one of the few cafes in Klang Valley that I hold in high regard.

This is my 4th visit over a year and both the food and service had never given me a cause for complaint, a testament to their consistency which is something very commendable.

Nasi Lemak Cheesecake – Lepaq Lepaq Ceylon KL

Nasi lemak cake could be more of a challenge after nasi lemak sushi and nasi lemak maki roll.

After all, it’s main component isn’t rice.

The folks over at Lepaq Lepaq attempted it anyways, and crazily enough decided to use cheese as its main component.

Nasi Lemak Maki @ Boxes Cafe, BBCC Bukit Bintang City Centre

Nasi Lemak Sushi was at Ruyi and Lyn. And now we have Nasi Lemak Maki at Boxes Cafe, (BBCC) Bukit Bintang City Centre.

I’m not surprised really.
Nasi lemak sushi and nasi lemak maki roll is not that difficult to replicate considering that both make use of rice as the main ingredient.

However, while the nasi lemak sushi at Ruyi and Lyn was delicate, pretty and tasted remarkably close to the real deal, the nasi lemak maki at Boxes Cafe BBCC was a bit of a miss.
