I don’t normally blog about clothing/shoes/bags cos I obviously don’t have the superb sense of style some fashion bloggers do – key word here being “some”.
For this post I’m making an exception because I’m really surprised on how the Sanuk Womens’ STEVIE fared during my 5 days of intensive walking in Korea. I usually put on my Nikes for this, but since it’s cold now, and I haven’t had a chance to wear as yet, I bought them along with me on this trip.
It helps that it is light, barely 1.5kg for both and the soft material makes packing easy. That, and the design is super chic too. The material is distressed, heavy canvas lace-up boot with custom textile tongue, frayed heel detail, and fleece lining.
Based on my experience of traveling to Korea (4 times in this lifetime and 3 trips this year alone), hotels are about USD200 and above a night. If you’re traveling with a partner, then you have someone to split the bill with.
For single travelers or for those on budget, a comfortable, safe and clean place to stay with a convenient location to boot may be more ideal. This category of travelers would rather spend their Korean won on shopping, food or for traveling to the many attractions within this beautiful country than for a hotel room.
For this category, hostels, or more commonly known as ‘guesthouse’ are best.
In continuation from my day 1 gluttony in the culinary rich scene of Melaka, I started the day with breakfast at The River Cafe, Casa del Rio Melaka. Since I’m hosted here for the next 3 days, I have planned out more exploration for the day; more food explorations of course.
Breakfast semi-buffet and was decent. It was something you can expect from a typical hotel buffet spread where you can pile up on the usual hot meals, cereals, fruits and so forth. Apart from the usual offering, there is a ala-minute menu for you to choose from for your eggs, which appealed to me because the eggs are prepared to order, rather than being prepped in advance and held for service.
We took the usual stuff for breakfast. Bread, pau, muffin and a bowl of cereal. They’re all decent. Nothing to complain but nothing spectacular to rave about either.
3 years. 3 years of being continuously amazed by Chef Alexander Waschl. It was like a 3 year affair that has finally reached its peak.
MIGF 2011 was “Hmmm… he’s good and the meal was promising“. In 2012 it was “Chef Alex is definitely a chef to watch out for.”
And this year, it’s just “Damn, I need to make dinners at The Restaurant a regular affair, not just an annual visit! “.

Let me start with the All Purpose Cleaning Spray (828ml) – RM13.80.
