I’m loving Bangkok. I mean who doesn’t? 🙂

Whenever I’m in Bangkok Platinum Mall is a must visit. Sometimes it disappoints; for although the variety and price beckons, the retailers/wholesalers here can be impertinent and surly.
Thankfully for this trip I was primarily distracted by the stretch of stalls just a short walk from its entrance.

You can’t miss it.
It is a whole row of about 10 stalls selling food.

Obanhmi 1 Utama – French toast, caramel flan, coconut milk coffee

There’s new stuff on Obanhmi’s menu again!

This time the menu gets a sweet upgrade in the desserts section with the addition of French Toast (featuring their superbly crusty baguettes of course) with ice cream and a Caramel Flan.
Last but not least, their much awaited Coconut Milk Coffee is finally a permanent feature.
The first glass I had of this was a pure milky drink but the upgradable version now is actually coconut milk-infused ice with a shot of Vietnamese coffee.
I vote for this one! 🙂

Have you tried a coffee infused with nitrogen which leaves you with a mouthfeel of beer?
Yes, that’s what the Nitro Coffee at Brewmen tasted like. In our Malaysian sweltering heat this is almost God-sent.

Cafe hop KL: Good waffles @ Brewmen, Solaris Mt Kiara

The waffles is suddenly “hip” again.
The resurgence of this familiar grid-shaped and golden brown crispy cooked batter was in tandem with the pop-ups of the caffeine joints all over Klang Valley.
Since almost every cafe serves breakfast platter, sandwiches and cakes, some decided that maybe, waffles could set them apart.
The plain waffle is the perfect foil for almost any ingredients so we started seeing waffles with savoury items like sausages and bacon. Some decided that bacon and ice cream works.

I like my waffles a bit dense compared to the much favoured light, crispy ones. The best waffles I’ve had was not surprisingly, in Belgium.
But I understand the limitations of being in Malaysian, so I wasn’t demanding Belgium waffles, but a one with a substantial bite at least.

Given a choice, I’d pick a dog for a pet over a cat anytime.
I like myself lean, but my pets chubby. The ideal of a plump puppy enthusiastically greeting me upon my arrival home and doleful eyes watching over me in the house certainly appeals.

Felines are not my thing, but I allow an exception to this preference of mine when it comes to Jaguars.

This is my version of a chocolate hazelnut spread.
Most of us are familiar with Nutella as a hazelnut spread and everyone loves Nutella (maybe except me), creamy, chocolatey and sweet.

I won’t judge if you love your Nutella; after all everybody has personal preferences but if you’re seeking for a healthier alternative and if you love chocolate, do give our Mud Slide a shot.

Kam in Your Face 2 – Joanne Kam Poh Poh!

Joanne Kam has been in the showbiz for a long long time.
In fact she’s the pioneer of women comedians and I’m regretful that I missed the Boom Boom Room days. Heck, what was I doing back then?

When Joanne announced about her Super Kam 2 show I bought tickets immediately. It marked my first experience seeing her in action on stage.
And boy was she fabulous! I laughed til I cried, gasped for air and choked on my saliva.

As you may know I’ve been actively experimenting and researching on healthy recipes and more wholesome alternatives to our usual daily dishes.
One of it which was successful (I had many failures!) is the cauliflower crust to be used as pizza base.
