What to eat at Imbi Market – Curry Mee, Egg Toast and Hainanese Tea, Ginger Noodles with Wine & more!

I love markets.
The mix of people-watching, checking out fresh produce and sampling the freshly prepared local food all in one venue is to me the perfect key to get acquainted with any city or country.

The Imbi market is right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
It comprises of 2 main sections – the wet market (where the locals buy vegetables and meat) and the hawkers’ section where they trade some of the best Malaysian food.
The market starts early in the morning at around 6.30am and closes around 12pm to 1pm but it’s best to go early, walk around, explore both sections and then reward yourself with a hearty breakfast.

What to eat here:

1. Ann Nasi Lemak.

Jaslyn Cakes – Telawi, Bangsar

There’s a new cake shop in town and what’s a cake-oholic got to do if not go check it out?
She of course, asked a baker friend to come along, since she had heard Jaslyn is an accomplished baker trained from Le Cordon Bleu London and it’s always good to have second opinions.

Jaslyn’s cosy bakeshop is easy to miss, but keep an eye out for La Bodega and it is “almost” right opposite it.
The space is small, quite spartan even, but the large “kitchen” in the middle adds character to the modest setting.
It is almost like being in someone’s home watching them bake their homely pastries and then having them serve it to you fresh there and then.

Metal Box, Empire Damansara – a good breakfast/brunch option

There’s always the question of “Where to get good coffee, where is the best breakfast/brunch cafe in KL/PJ“.
To be diplomatically correct, there is no best anywhere.

They have always said that food and taste is subjective.
I had to concur of course, for the proof in that saying is evident in the eateries that are still doing brisk business, and these are the very same eateries that I won’t consider dining there (after having dined there before of course) even if the food is free.

If you are happy with the food served, you are willing to pay the price stated and you enjoyed your time there, it is a good meal.

Christmas hampers / Santa Sacks for 2014 – order & delivery available KL/PJ

It’s that season for Christmas gifts again!
Well, not all gifts has to be expensive.

On my end I rounded up a few local entrepreneurs who are interested to collaborate for my Santa X’mas sack – named such because it is a sack instead of a useless basket wrapped with biodegradable plastic.
You can use this sack to keep your laundry, shoes/heels, sport shoes to gym, whatever you would use a sack/bag for!
In fact, it looks better than a plastic hamper no? 🙂

Patty and Pie, Aman Suria – wood fire oven pizzas and burgers

A bunch of friends told me that they have been gorging themselves silly on burgers and pizzas from Patty and Pie, a short drive away from their homes in Aman Suria.

Knowing my obsession with burgers (so much less now after all that eating clean lifestyle), they tried to make me forget low carb and tempted me with these burgers from Patty and Pie.
They succeeded.

Salt & Beefy (24) – Salt beef brisket, beef patty, horseradish cream, pickles, lettuce, cheddar.
Fries are included in the price.

My best restaurants in KL/PJ

I don’t celebrate Christmas.
Actually I don’t celebrate festive seasons. Not even Chinese New Year.
I’m such a cynical bitch that I find any idea of celebration based on dates or events a farce.

I do however, celebrate joyous moments; however big or small and I “celebrate daily”, counting my blessings that I can live the lifestyle I want and having the freedom to do whatever I please.
I live in the comfort of knowing few, but very reliable, loving friends that will back me through thick and thin.

So yes, back to Xmas. The point I’m trying to make is, celebrate life whenever it is good. Celebrate because you are happy and celebrate because you are alive.
