Crumbs, Pavilion – Yummy frozen yogurt and scones!

I’m a lover of froyo and I have tried almost all the froyo chains in KL. From the usual suspects of Tutti Frutti, Snogurt, MooCow and Spoon, MooCow remained my firm favourite til today. Prices are reasonable, portions are good and though they only have 2-3 flavours at one time, I love MooCow for its taste and texture; which is to me, perfect as it is not too icy nor creamy.

So here in Pavilion KL, a new-comer to the block is Crumbs, taking over the now shifted-over-to -KLCC Durian Durian (of which I’m pretty fond of as well since the durian ice cream rocks!).

Crumbs which originated from Hongkong has successful build up to 8 branches in Hong Kong within 2 years from the time they started in 2009. Malaysia is the second country to hold the franchisee and Crumbs primary offerings are pure frozen yogurt and freshly baked in-store scones.

Hello Hellloooo!!

OMGGGGG… he’s such a cute little piggy isn’t he?

It’s a bit surreal to go gaga all over these cute memorabilias of the swine and yet, 20 minutes later you’re heartily tucking into dishes that are made out of these cute little piggies…

but I digress….

My pork burger radar bought me here to the unfamiliar territory of SS15 Subang.
The Hungry Hog (total approval awarded for such an original name!) is not at the popular stretch of SS15; where the Asia Cafe and Snowflakes are located but it occupies a lot at the quieter side along rows of shophouses.

Lenovo: The new Ideapad U-Series Ultrabooks Launch

I’m glad I held firm and not give in into buying a Mac Air months earlier when I was desperately in need of a light, slim and powerful laptop.

Look at the slew of ultrabooks hitting the market now! All sleek, all light and all comes fitted with the best specs there is for each of their individual class and pricing.

I got myself an Acer Aspire S3, first of the Ultrabooks to hit the Malaysian market when I was appointed as the Acer Aspire S3 Brand Evangelist (post–> HERE).

Shortly after, I attended the Asus Zenbook launch and I had to admit that the Zenbook is delicious too. (See mini comparison –> Asus Zenbook vs Aspire S3 ). However, the Acer Aspire S3 is RM2599 (i5) while the Zenbook is RM4499 (i7) so it wasn’t really fair to compare both.

I’m grateful for my Aspire S3, given the hectic and on- the- go lifestyle I keep. It hanged on me mostly on Firefox 8.0 so after consultations with some techies I finally got rid of it yesterday.

I substituted it with Safari for Windows and it seemed to be working fine for now.

But I digress….let’s get back to the Lenovo Ideapad U300s!

Of course, I just had to take my Aspire S3 out and did another comparison.

TRAVEL: Murtabak Mengkasar – Pekan, Kuantan

Firefly launched their inaugural flight to Kuantan few days back and I hopped on board their ATR72-500 aircraft, the one that is being used for the Subang – Kuantan and Singapore – Kuantan route and for 3 days 2 nights, I was again a tourist in my own country, soaking up the sights and culture of Pahang and eating my way through a multitude of cuisine unfamiliar before.

Starting with some food posts (what else do you expect from me?? ); I have shared about the Royal Pudding; a dessert which was specially served to the Royalties of Pahang back then.

Now I’m going to share on yet another Pahang specialty; this time of the savoury kind, called the Murtabak Mengkasar.

Featuring extra-large murtabak with multi-layers of minced meat + eggs; Murtabak Mengkasar comes in 2 options (chicken/beef) and 2 sizes – ordinary murtabak for RM6 and RM8 for the special murtabak that are shareable up to four people.

KUANTAN – Puding Diraja, a specialty from the region of Pekan, Pahang.

Puding DiRaja or Royal Pudding started as a dessert which was specially served to the Royalties of Pahang.

This particular dessert is a specialty from the region of Pekan, Pahang.
The basic ingredients are bananas (of the smaller variety as these are usually sweeter), prune, cherries and cashew nuts. Jala mas (golden threads) which were made from duck egg yolks and sugar (another laborious process) were then sprinkled over the top to dress it up. This pudding is best enjoyed cold.

The Asus Zenbook launch! Prices, specs, pictures.

Since I have always been on the lookout for a slim, light and powerful laptop, I have been eyeing the MacBook Air, the Acer S3 and the Asus Zenbook for like, forever.
As you know, I was recently appointed as the Acer Aspire S3 Brand Evangelist (post–> HERE) and for the last 3 weeks I have been cheerily carrying a much lighter lappie than my earlier Compaq. The Aspire S3, priced at RM2,599 is a good buy, taking into consideration it’s form factor and it’s specs.

However, it doesn’t mean I stopped snooping around. Being an avid techie, I’m still eyeing the Asus Zenbook and lucky me got a first-hand feel at it yesterday.

Finally! After all those weeks of oogling it on the Asus FB page, I had a chance to carry, type and did a few sample test runs on a Zenbook.
