ONE-STAR MICHELIN CHEF, BAPTISTE FOURNIER VISITS MEZZE BISTRO.

Fournier, a name synonymous with wines and now food, plays guest chef at Mezze Bistro, Damansara Heights.

Come this October to Mezze Bistro, to experience the whimsical but précise style of top Chef, Baptiste Fournier who is currently helming the La Tour, a one-star Michelin restaurant in the beautiful village of Sancerre in the Loire Valley, France.
Baptiste Fournier’s cuisine is honest, fresh and surprising.

Voted as one of the top 6 young chefs in France by the famed Gault Millau guide, Baptiste took over the helm of the executive chef role from his father, Daniel at the family-owned La Tour at a young age of 29.

Baptiste trained under the watchful eyes of famed chefs such as Alain Passard, one of the best chefs in Paris from three-star Michelin restaurant, L’Arpege and Guy Savoy, another three-star Michelin Chef of his namesake restaurant. Baptiste has taken the food scene in Sancerre by storm with his cutting edge style and use of fresh ingredients. Without a doubt, strong connections with L’Arpege are apparent in his food.

But not 7aste as yet!

Today is another happy milestone for me as I’m now offically appointed as an Acer Aspire S3 Evangelist!

I know I was; and as you’re reading this post, I’m configuring my new baby as fast I can so I could take it with me to Singapore tonight!

Last year, I was at Vintry’s, Jaya 33 for the Wine For Asia 2010 (post here ) launch. I didn’t know much about this annual event back then. Nor do I know much about wines.
Today, I’m much more well-versed with the wines of the world, having been exposed to many wine pairing dinners and wine events over the course of the year. And this year, I will be attending the Wine For Asia 2011 on Oct 28th and the Wine Fiesta on Oct 29th 2011!

WINE FOR ASIA 2011 – An exciting programme awaits you!

Wine For Asia 2011 is Asia’s most comprehensive international wine exhibition and it will be held on 27-28 October 2011, followed by its extension, Wine Fiesta @ Wine For Asia 2011 on 29 October 2011.

Would you have thought that a Martell /Cognac pairing dinner is possible?
I for one, wouldn’t have. Blame it on tradition, but cognac has always came across to me as an “old man’s” drink. Prestigious, elegant and snooty. A drink over cigars and poker yes, but not eggplants & spare ribs.

In continuation of my wholesome – eating post about French chef Lawrence at The Banjaran Hot Springs & Resorts, I’m following up today with this “healthy bread” post. I’m not sure what hit me, but I’m now overcome by a sudden urge to write about healthy food!

**My weekly bread stash –> Yeah, that’s how much bread I eat in ONE week!

My previous article on Craft Bakers at Solaris Dutamas had garnered much response about the lack of good artisan, hearty European-type breads in KL. I find it heartening to know that there are like-minded people who refuse to be subjected to fluffy, empty & commercialized loaves from Bread Story, Gardenia and the likes. Thank god there are still bread lovers out there who value quality, well-baked dough.

VEGETARIAN & SPA CUISINE with French Star Chef LAWRENCE ABOUCAYA.

Hey guys! I was just informed about this upcoming Gourmet event at the Banjaran in Perak!
Needless to say I’m pretty excited to learn more about this super healthy, natural, good, simple, yet uplifting, happy creative and delicious cuisine. I have already made my reservations and would be travelling to The Banjaran to sample her food!

Though it may not be reflected in my blog (I know I blog devoted on PORK Burgers and my love for meats); I assure you that I do take my greens religiously everyday, especially during lunch time, as I need the fibre. Beside regular workouts, I do follow a healthy lifestyle regime as much as possible.
So yes, to all those who kept asking me how do I stay slim with the amount of food I ate, the answer remains “Exercise, controlled portions & never neglect the vegetables & fruits!“.

The Restaurant, The Club at The Saujana

Remember my post on the MIGF 2011 menus –>HERE ?
I had always wanted to visit The Saujana, having been a KL-ite since about 6 years ago. (Wow, it’s been that long since I left Penang!). That area is one of the many parts of KL/Selangor that I haven’t explored yet. Which basically means food outlets undiscovered.

One such place is the one that you’re reading about right now. Just recently The Restaurant at The Club Saujana underwent a change of Head Chef, and at helm now is the affable and talented Chef Alexander Waschl.

I did mention in my post that Chef Alexander Waschl ‘s MIGF was one of the few that’s worth a shot this year, just based on reading the items featured on the menu. Turned out that my intuition was right.

When presented with the dinner menu versus the MIGF one on the night of my visit, I chose to go ala-carte instead; for the sake of having the freedom of picking my dishes for dinner.
Naturally I gravitated towards the meats; and I have a habit of ordering veal whenever I see it on any menu. It’s one of the dishes that I have been eyeing on the MIGF menu anyways; and hence I was mighty pleased that it was available ala-carte as well.
