BUDDY BEARS UNITING CHARITY WITH ART AND A MESSAGE OF PEACE, FRIENDSHIP AND INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING.

Heralding the message of peace, friendship and international understanding are 143 life-size painted bears which are here for an exhibition that was launched today by Kuala Lumpur’s Mayor Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad bin Ismail, Chairman of Tourism Malaysia Datuk Dr. Victor Wee, and the United Buddy Bears creators Dr. and Mrs. Klaus Herlitz.

143 nations, (yes, the number 143 represents the nations) represented by 143 fibre-glass bear sculptures approximately 2m in height welcomes you at Pavilion KL from 8th December to 15th February 2012!

These bear sculptures was originally developed in Berlin, Germany by Klaus and Eva Herlitz in collaboration with sculptur Roman Strobl.

It’s that time of the year again. It’s YEAR END!!

They say it’s the season of sharing and giving, so let’s grant-a-wish to the less fortunate shall we?

One World Hotel has launched its Grant-A-Wish programme to fulfill the Christmas wish of 30 children from the House of Joy. The children from the home will be hanging up their wish list on the 20-feet Christmas Tree at the hotel lobby.

Everyone’s favourite McD “annual” treat is back!

Yes, I’m talking about the ever popular McDonald’s Prosperity Burger! We can once again enjoy the hot and peppery flavour of the McDonald’s Prosperity Burger as it returns to spice up the nation for the 19th time (can you imagine? It’s been 19 years already!).

Yummss…meat patties dipped with aromatic black pepper sauce and layered with fresh onion slices in a sesame seed bun. What’s your favourite? The chicken or beef prosperity? Or is it the Twister Fries?

“Happy Thanksgiving!” says the turkey chocolate cupcake!

I had the privilege to dine with Steve Cokkinias, the GM of Ritz Carlton KL for my first ever Thanksgiving Dinner this year. The set up at the dining room was surreally real, thanks to Steve who wanted us all to truly experience Thanksgiving, just like how it was back in his younger days in his home country.

Chef Adrian Richardson in Malaysia! Cooking & tasting session @ JW Marriot KL

I have to applaud AFC’s continuous and consistent airing of really good cooking programs. There was a point of my life where I had the privilege to watch AFC every weekend, since the ex-BF has Astro.
Needless to say, when he became the ex, my AFC sessions went “kaput” as well. LOL!

But as consolation I have had many opportunities to meet these AFC chefs in person, with much gratitude of course to AFC who has consistently flown in their chefs to our Malaysian shores. These meet and greets were awesome experiences, and I can’t thank AFC enough each time.
From Martin Yan, Bruce Lim to Anna Olson, it was always thrilling to see these amazing chefs at work right in front of you.

And my latest AFC Chef encounter was the superbly charming and engaging Chef Adrian Richardson.

Pastry Union – Finest Artisan Cakes Online by Yin Wong

I met an enterprising and talented young lady recently. Her name is Yin, and she’s a cake designer and accomplished baker.

And yes, her business model is the usual “bake from home, sell it online/word of mouth” operation.

Sounds cliche? Well, it did come across to me as such at first too. Being a foodie and an active socialite, I have met many self taught bakers, online desserts entrepreneurs & even artisanal/cake designers (as they call themselves) during functions and parties. I didn’t think much about it at first, but after the initial 5-7 encounters and my subsequent failed attempts to order from them, the magnitude of their businesses dawned on me.

Carlsberg’s Where’s The Party 2011 – “That Calls for a Carlsberg”!!

If I must vote ONE party for the coveted award of “Best Party of 2011“, Carlsberg’s Where’s The Party has no contender.
It was seriously one spectacular and unforgettable party!

There were enough entertainment, enough Carlsberg (duhhh!) and enough eye-candy all round to keep anyone happy. We (bloggers & media) all thought Carlsberg outdid themselves, and the general consensus was “Carlsberg is gonna find it hard to up the ante if there’s ever gonna be a part 2!”.

And what do you know, THERE IS A “Carlsberg’s Where’s The Party PART 2“!!
Scheduled for December 2011, (that’s like only few weeks to the party date!), Carlsberg is already hinting that this is gonna rock or world like no other party would!

I can’t wait for December now.. and here’s some pictures of the last one in June!
MEMORIES, sweet MEMORIES! This calls for a Carlsberg!
