The launch of Firefly’s inaugural flight between Kota Bharu and Johor Bahru

Happy TGIF guys! :DD
Today would be the 2nd day of my trip with Firefly Airlines in conjunction with their launch of inaugural flight between Kota Bharu and Johor Bahru.

ATR72-500

I’m following the media familiarisation trip, co-sponsored by Johor State Tourism and Resort World Sentosa, and the ground transfers are hosted by Truly Travel Mart Tour & Transport Sdn Bhd and SN Vacation.

Below: Guess who’s on the trip as well and adding bling, spark and glamour (literally) to our 4D3N adventure? :DD

Spa Village Tanjong Jara – The philosophy of Sucimurni

Anyone who has met me; at first impressions, thinks I’m high-strung and incredibly impatient. At my most natural self, my gestures and mannerism are brisk, my movements hurried and my speech rapid. People find themselves exhausted attempting to keep up with me, if they even attempt at all.

Underneath it all, I admit I’m fatigued. Both physically and mentally. Keeping the blog going takes dedication and effort, and running a company is no joke, even if it’s just a boutique consultancy firm.

Though this trip was planned months back, it was timely as I was near burned out recently. Finally admitting to myself that I just had to get away and take a step back from it all, I gladly turned down invitations, postponed meetings and switched my mind off work.

Tanjong Jara was beautiful in every way possible, from the accommodation to the hospitality, the facilities and the bewitching but serene surroundings.

For today I’m sharing my Asam Roselle body treatment at the Spa Village within the resort itself. It was one of the highlights of my stay simply because I’ve got beautiful pictures to show (meaning pictures of ME! 😛 ) and because it was truly one of the most enjoyable activity that one could possibly experienced here at Tanjong Jara Resort.

Spa Village Tanjong Jara

I was recommended the Asam Roselle Experience, and being a fan of the flower (both as a drink and in food) I was game to see how this flower can be incorporated in massage oils and treatment.

BACKGROUND:

ASAM ROSELLE (ROSELLE BODY TREATMENT)
More than three centuries ago the Roselle plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa L) was introduced into Malaysia from India. This pretty plant with dark red flowers, and unique healing powers, very quickly adapted to the fertile soil and tropical climate, and now grows wild throughout the country. It is known by different local names across peninsular Malaysia: Asam Paya; Asam Kumbang or Asam Susur.

Venezuelan Food in KL – Venezuelan Gastronomic Fest @ Vogue Cafe, Renaissance Hotel, KL

I had valuable insights into Venezuelan cuisine yesterday, with thanks to the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Malaysia as well as Venezuelan Author and Chef Carmen Rawstron.

Venezuelan Gastronomic Fest 2012-054

Bubbly Chef Carmen is such a doll; extremely informative about all things Venezuelan and her superb enthusiasm was infectious! She unabashedly shared her knowledge and very generously bestowed recipes and tips of her Venezuelan cuisine.

I’m a strong advocate that as a foodie one should be game to sample any cuisine or dish. Officially this is my first time savouring Venezuelan cuisine, but on the other hand, I find some of the dishes familiar, especially the beans, the rice and the feta cheese sticks. Somehow, it reminded me strongly of Mexican cuisine.

Hennessy Appreciation Grows Gastronomy 2012 featuring celebrity Chef Edward Lee!

Last year, I missed the Hennessy Appreciation Dinner by Chef Alvin Leong, of which I was naturally extremely disappointed about. Same sentiments applies to the Penang event where Chef Cheong Liew showcased his delicious culinary works at the beautifully restored Suffolk House of Penang.
Thankfully, my good friend Ling of Mezze was kind enough to invite me to be her guest for the Hennessy Appreciation Dinner by Susur Lee, else I would have missed out on it again.

Below: High on Hennessy; Ling of Mezze Restaurant, Jalan Kasah and Frederic Noyere, the managing director of Moet Hennessy Diageo in Malaysia.

Hennessy XO Appreciation Grows - Susur Lee-4

The pictures for the post sat in draft for quite some time, but then I wasn’t invited as a blogger but as a guest, thus I was free from any datelines.
But with the next Hennessy Appreciation Dinner coming up TOMORROW; memories took me back to my sublime dinner that night; and of my virtual tour of the cognac house where it all began…..

My IKEA Mobile Office – I work everywhere, anywhere, whenever!

I’m an IKEA products user; but then again, who’s not right?

While some swear by Ikea products and Ikea meatballs, I have to say that I’m not a die hard fan. For me, importance lies in the products’ durability, price and functionality, not so much on branding and popularity.
