All thanks to our local guide Jun Fook, who really knew where the best eats are! And I really appreciate his patience in taking us to all these place of Kuching as some of these places are actually out of the city centre and not all of them listed below are necessarily convenient.

Marina Bay Sands – Celebrity Chef restaurants Tour – Cut, Guy Savoy, db Bistro Moderne, Waku Ghin

Other than the Harry Potter Exhibition visit on the very first day of its opening and the behind the scenes tour of Gardens by the Bay, my personal highlight of the trip was the Kitchen Tours at selected Celebrity Chef restaurants in Marina Bay Sands.

As a foodie, meeting and speaking to celebrity and experienced executive chefs is like sustenance to my food obsessed self.  My experience at the World Gourmet Summit 2012 was most stimulating, meeting almost 20-30 international and local 20-30 chefs in one place at the same time.

The Celebrity Chef restaurants in Marina Bay Sands are revered as one of the most dine at locations in Singapore.  Granted, the founder chefs are not in the outlet all the time, but these restaurants are headed by amazingly competent Head Chefs, as I found out during my tour.

Buffet Ramadhan 2012 – CINNAMON COFFEE HOUSE, ONE WORLD HOTEL

I visit Cinnamon Coffee House quite regularly. The proximity of it to my office and home plays a part and so does dealing with the wonderful people from One World Hotel.

Over time and many visits I realized that while the variety improved; some stations remained a hit and miss.  The spread however, offers good value for money and One World’s Cinnamon Coffee House has always been renowned for the fantastic and diversified selection.

Ramadhan Buffet 2012 – JW Marriot, Kuala Lumpur

The Ramadhan Buffet at the JW Marriot Hotel, Kuala Lumpur has got to be one of the most lovely buffets I had this year. The Poolside area on the 6th Floor and the Starhill Conference Centre on the 4th floor of the hotel has been transformed into a Ramadhan bazaar; to replicate a “kampong” ambience.

Guests have the option of dining al-fresco; sitting on the patio of the blue pool and breathing in in the evening crisp after-rain air just like I did or dine in air-conditioning comfort in the remodeled conference/dining hall.

After a hectic week, I chose to dine out in the open. Besides, I love space and air, not to mention the opportunity to catch all the action at the live cooking stations.

Ramadan Buffet 2012 and 2011 – Where’s your favourite?

Ramadan is 2 weeks away!!
Here’s a compilation of all the Ramadan buffets I sampled back in 2011, all within 1-2 weeks. And no, I didn’t put on any weight, thanks to exercise and portion control 😛

I missed out on quite many others as I was hospitalised for a good 2 weeks during the Ramadan month for suspected UTI. But there was no conclusive results so it was really a waste of $$ and time! 🙁

Anyways, I love the lambs, the curries, the desserts and quite simply, the spread for every buffet that I went! And you know what? It’s the time again for Ramadan (actually it starts on 18th July) so let the feasting BEGIN! 🙂
