Changi Village Hotel (Review) – a part of Singapore I haven’t been!

My weekend in Singapore was slightly different from my usual trips. Instead of flashy Marina Bay Sands, or shopping in Orchard and food hunting like I usually do, I was nestled comfortably in the tranquil and laid back district of Changi Village. A taxi ride to the MRT station – Tanah Merah cost about SGD10 and SGD30 if you’re heading to Arab Street area. Trust me, I know. I paid those damn bucks.

At first I was cursing the distance and wondering what would I do being away from my Ngee Ann city, Orchard Road and celebrity restaurants in Marina Bay Sands. Checking in AFTER my welcome dinner at Landmark Village Hotel, I took a quick video and some photographs and collapsed on the bed. Yes, I was in such a rush that I didn’t manage to check in till after the event.

When I woke up the next morning, I felt slightly rested and realized the bed is ultra-comfortable! I snuggled for a while before heading out for breakfast. Another thing I like about the room? Plenty of plug points! I could charge my BB, Zenbook, camera, MP3 player and my external battery pack all at one go at different points.

I love the large desk provided. There was plenty of space for everything; laptop, a glass of water, magazines at the side, a plate of snack, phone charging in front of me and for my mouse.

After a rather dramatic start to my weekend in Sg (hhmm.. I always seem to have some drama happening to me during my trips, such as the fright I had on my first day in Paris), I arrived safely albeit slightly late and SGD30 poorer at the Landmark Village Hotel in the Arab quarter in Singapore city.

So yes, where was I? 😀

Ah, the pastries, the cheeses, the foie gras, the award winning cured sausages and the pate. Now it’s the continuation, where my “exclusive private” Paris Walking Food Tour now progressed to Rue Mouffetard, a few streets away from the St Germaine market/area where shops and shops of gourmet delights flanked both sides of the street.

But before that, we continued our gluttony at the St Germaine market; this time with cheeses!

This Ramadhan buffet at Maytower was one of my favourites last year. When I receive the preview invite few weeks back, I was ecstatic. Oh yes, flashback of the lamb, satay and the amazing assam grilled fish came to mind and I gulped down my drool in anticipation.

In fact, over dinner I was reminded of the video I did last year for the Ramadhan buffet! Here is it:

Unfortunately, I gave up doing videos this year. I barely have enough time to write; not to mention picture editing so I can’t imagine doing videos as well. 🙁

I’m off to Singapore tomorrow! 😀

It’s going to be a blast. I will be meeting and mingling with bloggers from Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, etc in one of Singapore’s most prominent blog awards event. I’m so looking forward to improve my network and my blogging skills as there’s much to learn from everyone present there. After handling some international blogging campaigns via my company Rouge Communications, I can confidently state that blog advertising in the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and other countries differs in varying degrees from Malaysia. These international bloggers has a different mindset when it comes to advertorials and blogging!

As in all things in life, improvement and change is permanent. A friend of mine recently took on bold changes in his career. From an engineer, he went on to become a videographer and the next thing I knew, he’s one of the masterminds behind a burger joint!

Europe 2012 – Day 1 – Paris Food Walking Tour: Gourmet French Food

Here I am, back with my Europe postings!
I assure you I’m slowly but surely making my way through them. -_-

7 days in Europe, over 3 countries and many hotels later, I have hours of footages, thousands of pictures, a stack of train tickets and a treasure box of memories to wade through.

This post today highlights the food and scenes of Paris that I have fallen in love with. I can’t say enough about the amazing pastries and bread here, so much so that my passion for baking (breads especially) burns as feverish as ever. I hope in time I’ll finally be able to afford the oven and the time to learn the art of making exceptional breads.

Croissant Ispahan. €1.80. Pierre Herme – PARIS. The best croissant ever!

Below: Freshly baked breads with Pate – mixture of cooked ground meat and fat minced into a spreadable paste. The ones here are not as smooth but boasts of a robust flavour which I personal prefer.

I just touched down from Kuching yesterday and last Sunday I had way too much food at one too many outlets. If you haven’t seen the pictures of what I ate in mere 10 hours, you really should check it out HERE. LOL!

After so much Chinese and hawker food, today I’m pampered with a wine pairing lunch at Le Meridien KL. I’m not sure about the menu yet but for the wines this was what I was told to expect – Cape Mentelle from Australia.
