I missed it on my previous trip so I made sure I was there by 3.30pm this time. True enough, even at that early hour (operational hours are 3-5 pm or when all are sold out, whichever earlier) on a Friday evening, business was brisk and supply was already running low.
When I was back in Penang earlier last month to witness the launch of the new Sheraton Four Points Penang, I was amazed by the change on this “other side” of town. My earlier visits this year has primarily been limited to the city centre, and the transformation on the road from Island Plaza to Sheraton Four Points Penang had me staring open-mouthed as the hotel shuttle drove past.

It’s on Jalan Ampang; the nearest LRT is Monorail Bukit Nanas and it’s located on the same row as Zouk. What’s happening starting from Friday (November 29) to Sunday (December 1, 2013) is that the annual MATIC FEST is here again!
MaTiC is an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture which aims to promote itself as ‘One- Stop Centre’ for the convenience of travelers in and out of the state through a variety of services and amenities.
The MaTiC Fest is an annual event and participation is open to the public as well as foreign tourists.
It looks like there’s a lot of fun activities lined up for 3 days. I’ll be there on Saturday and Sunday to support my friends who are in the Paintball, Treasure Hunt and Arm Wrestling competitions!
MaTiC Fest also got support from various quarters including KFC, Ribena Malaysia, Secret Garden, Cocoa Boutique, Saloma Bistro, as well as the close cooperation of Tourism Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL ) and the Secretariat of Visit Malaysia Year 2014. During the day , several artists will enliven the event of Hyper Act, Estranged Group , Lan Typewriter , Amanda Imani , M David Luster and Ezlyn . Arriving late at 10pm to Hilton Tokyo, no thanks to a delayed flight, I missed a Japanese dinner (one of my favourite cuisines) and had to order room service. Imagine seeing all the delicious food photos of your fellow friends on Instagram enroute from the airport and then being told that you have missed it.
A slight oversight resulted in a few too many lifts trips up and down during the check-in process. Imagine enduring that after a 7-8 hours flight followed by a 2 hours ride from the airport. I was starving, cold, exhausted and now, officially in a ghastly mood.
The Hilton hospitality kicked in at the right time. I was upgraded and walking into my Junior Suite, I felt my frustrations dissipate. The kind lady who escorted me to my suite assisted to adjust the air con temperature, the lighting and showed me the most important thing I wanted to see; the room service menu.

I had been curious about whale meat for quite some time now. Those who have been following my blog would have realized that I’m game to try exotic/out-of-the-ordinary food as long as it doesn’t kill me. Heck, I even ate fugu (blowfish/pufferfish) laste year in Osaka, all warnings be damned.

I’m not a big fan of Nyonya Chang/Nyonya Dumplings actually. It’s just that when you’re in Melaka you have to do the Nyonya thing; eat Nyonya food and seek the local popular delicacies.
And since I haven’t ate rice dumpling; specifically Nyonya dumplings for a long time, I decided one is not enough and bought myself 3 on a recent trip and 1 more on a separate outing.
The usual Korean trip itinerary consist of barbecue meats, shopping and some visits to theme parks/museums/palaces. Not many include a traditional Korean meal called Hanjeongsik.
After 3 trips to South Korea, I finally experienced Hanjeongsik, a full-course Korean meal with savoury side dishes. It is commonly served for the royals and aristocrats, where there are multiple courses and many dishes per course.
Types of dishes varies significantly according to seasons and regions but generally the meal starts with cold appetisers and gruel, followed by the main dishes which are either grilled, boiled, steamed, fried or salted.
Hot pots are included as well, and of course Korean liquor.

** The description I gave are general descriptions as it’s tedious to note the Korean names for each and every dish. Besides, we were really hungry!
This is not the first ramen burger I have tasted in Malaysia; my first being the ones by myBurgerlab who unfortunately decided not to make it permanent on their menu as the texture of the ramen wasn’t to their liking.
This would be the first commercially available ramen burger that I have tried and thankfully it wasn’t entirely a disaster.
Javries Restaurant at Gurney Paragon is actually more of a pizzeria. The below are basically the options for the Ramen Burger here. I took a beef and a chicken for comparison sake.
