Starting a habit – Anlene Move Programme: 21 Days challenge

I’ve shared about the Anlene Move Programme earlier and I am now ready to take on the 21 days challenge.
As I’ve mentioned before, if you take a step at a time, if you are serious about making a change, if you are keen to inculcate a new habit, YOU CAN.

Research has shown that doing something repetitively for 21 consecutive days helps to inculcate a habit.
For me I’ve chosen to perform 21 variants of plank moves for 21 days.

Anlene Move Programme : 21 days for a new habit

Dear friends and readers, Happy Boxing Day!

How has the holidays been for you? Besides the feasting and parties with family and friends, have you been loving yourself and taking this opportunity to rejuvenate?

Well, I hope you have!
Personally I’ve been feasting too but I did kept things in check with consistent trainings and substituting certain meals with salads if I’ve had over-binge on sinful delights the day before.

V Integrated Wellness (VIW) @ The Andaman, Langkawi – yoga retreats, fitness & body-mind classes, healthy cuisine, spa

Langkawi.
The general consensus of this island is cheap beers, nice beaches and a laid-back village vibe.

For those with deep pockets, a few outstanding resorts here would fit the bill for a delightful family holiday or for a fun friends’ getaway, as a couple’s love haven or as a refuge for those seeking time away from city.

Somehow Langkawi isn’t the first destination that comes to mind for those in pursuit of a retreat that is focused on wellness and fitness.
Part of the reason could be due to the fact that not many resorts advocates the wellbeing and health aspect but focuses instead on the food, fun beach activities, family holidays and spas experiences, which is the norm for any island resort.
To many a vacation means letting the hair down and play, relax, eat and enjoy. Who count calories on vacation anyways?

Well, right and wrong.
With the current surge of interest in clean eating, fitness and general well-being both in Malaysia and abroad, there are an increased amount of discerning travellers who travel in search of specific wellness retreats, be it yoga or some form of natural healing therapy.
Staunch ones might even pick one resort over the other based on the wellness facilities.
I have a number of friends who are business travellers and they admit that generally they would opt for a hotel with longer gym opening hours or with the availability of a pool over those without.

I was in Langkawi recently, and stayed at the Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort under the Starwood brand.
The V Integrated Wellness philosophy, the yoga master, the fitness trainer and the overall resort’s commitment to wellness and holistic therapies caught my interest as it offers an entire different experience from my other travels.

The good news is, the Andaman Langkawi will be leveraging more on its current resources to promote their holistic therapies this 2015, which I think is a timely and marvellous move.

For a start, the resort is flanked by the pristine Datai Bay and an ancient 10 million year old rainforest teeming with exotic flora and fauna, offering a natural setting for all pampering indulgence, amidst the healing properties of nature.

Recommended: Vision Space Optometrist @ Uptown, SS2, Giza for professional eye check

It was mid 2010 that I first met Mr Woon and Mr Aw in Vision Space Optometrist, Uptown Damansara.

Back then I had the most comprehensive eye-check ever, involving sophisticated equipment like Slit Lamp, Keratometer, Tonometer and Fundus Camera, Ophthalmoscope & Retinoscope.
At the end of it, any potential issue I may have with my eyes are thoroughly checked and filed for future reference.

Below: Back in 2010, long hair and well younger… 😛

Kronenbourg 1664’s “Fun Office Chair Race” – A Wednesday Affair

Those who know me (on the surface) would be label me a workaholic.
Well, they aren’t far off the mark, but then again they don’t spend every minute with me so they won’t know my rest hours.

But yes, work-life balance. It is a phase bounced about, but is work-life balance a luxury or necessity?
The “Kronenbourg 1664 Wednesday” 9-month long activation aims to raise the bar in championing work-life balance.

GRAYNS rice cooker – rice suitable for diabetes

Being Asians, sacrificing rice is tough.
In fact I couldn’t believe that I managed to do it; not eating rice, pasta or bread for 3 months.
But I did. And I got really lean.

Now I would only eat rice/pasta/breads occasionally. And in very small dosages.

But you don’t have to be so drastic. Unless your goals is similar to mine (which borders on being a bit obsessive) a bit of rice /carbohydrates isn’t going to harm you in any way.
Just do try to cut down on the refined carbohydrates (pasta, white rice, breads made with white flour – go for rye, sourdough, etc instead).
Frankly most breads labeled “wheat” hardly contain any wholewheat and is 90% marketing BS.

In line with my new healthy produce business Fit Fab Kitchen, I have collaborated with GRAYNS Malaysia after I have tested the GRAYNS rice cooker for the past few months.
This rice cooker allows you to enjoy your rice (brown, white, basmati, etc) minus the carbs.
I posted about it on my social sites and there were many sceptics who argued about it’s efficiency and said it was pointless to eat rice then.
Well I had compiled all such arguments and FAQs here:
