Cheesecake.
Plain, flavoured, baked or chilled, everyone I know enjoys a good cheesecake every now and then.

There was once the craze for jiggly, soft Japanese cheesecake. Now it seems that the spike of interest is centred around the burnt cheesecake, an adaption of sorts (or copy) from the famous version at La Vina, a tapas bar in San Sebastian, Spain. Many had proclaimed it to be the best cheesecake ever.

I’m super particular about my cheesecake, so much so that I’ve enjoyed very few cheesecakes in KL.

The brunch scene in KL is about to get more exciting!

Just as I was lamenting about the quality of cafe and ‘cafe food‘ and “those brunch restaurants” with a few eye rolls to a friend, I received news about a new brunch menu at The Daily Grind followed by an invite from one of my favourite pork brunch places in town – Breadfruits.

And just yesterday, a FB posting by a friend showed beautiful photos of the famous Wild Honey Singapore in Pavilion KL.
Needless to say I dropped him a message immediately and made Sunday brunch plans.

Strangers at 47 is one of the few cafes in Klang Valley that I hold in high regard.

This is my 4th visit over a year and both the food and service had never given me a cause for complaint, a testament to their consistency which is something very commendable.

I was part of the 80% of the tourists to Melaka once, only knowing of Baba Charlie and steadfastly visiting BC each time I’m in Melaka.
I swooned over their bongkong and absolutely love the durian apam. I even wrote a glowing review of it.

Then things changed.
On one visit I was disappointed with the kuih. Perplexed, it hit me that the quality is sliding south faster than our ringgit.

Deprived of good kuih suddenly, I started to bug my ever reliable guide and friend Daniel Cerventus. “Eh, Melaka only one place got kuih ah?”
Overworked yet ever obliging, he was coerced into getting me other options, for he realized he will never hear the end of it from me if he didn’t.
