Bowery Petit, TTDI – cafe, bakery & pizzeria
Unless you are extremely fussy, leaving Bowery Petit empty-handed is highly unlikely.
The heavy glass doors open to a small but cosy space where 50% of it are dedicated to the bewitching display of an amazing wide array of cakes, cupcakes, macarons, tiramisu, pies, tarts, muffins, danishes and breads in all forms from bagels to mini loaves, buns and rolls.
If you have a sweet tooth like I do, it is time to bid any form of self-constraint goodbye.
Nara Kitchen & Co, Uptown Damansara – great, wholesome food, good service, fair prices
My breakfast one Saturday at Nara Kitchen was satisfying, so much so that I thought it warranted a return visit, which I promptly made very next day.
There are few, if any outlet that are able to please a diner with every dish on the menu.
Hence the variety in the menu, and even then it could be a play of luck for one to order the exact dish that you will enjoy.
Koru Cafe, Empire Damansara – New Zealand inspired cafe
Let’s began today’s cafe post with a little bit of background of the cafe’s name; Koru.
At first Koru sounded to me like a name picked out on whim for its simplicity and ease of pronunciation, or perhaps because it sounded cute.
But no, Koru means “loop” in Māori and this loop refers to the spiral shape based on the contour of a new unfurling silver fern frond.
It is an integral symbol in Māori art, carving and tattoos and symbolizes new life, growth, strength and peace.
Surprised?
Well, I was too.

Awesome Canteen, Paramount PJ – paleo, gluten free dining option
When I first visited Awesome Canteen when they opened years back I wasn’t impressed with the food nor the hype surrounding its paleo burger.
But it is the first outlet that markets this as one of its main menu items, resulting in paleo and non-paleo eaters ordering it more out of curiosity than anything else (or so I think).
Reviews of its food was mixed since, but it has undisputedly garnered its legion of fans over the years, as seen from the brand’s expansion to Penang while the Paramount outlet is steadily welcoming customers, both old and new.
They made next door Prologue, its porky sister Japanese restaurant offering bentos and ramen.
So yes, Awesome Canteen has continued being awesome for their fans!
Casa Cacao – chocolate salon on Telawi : decadent chocolate desserts, waffles, brunch
Bangsar is almost my second home.
Want to shop or eat/chill out? You can go wrong being at the Telawi and Bangsar Villages vicinity.

There are several mamaks around while Lucky Garden and the TMC area are good bets with numerous Chinese coffeeshops offering everything from Sarawak Laksa to Chicken Rice and dim sum.
Even for the extreme budget conscious Malaysians, the row of stalls near the famous Anuar fish head curry should be able to satisfy any appetite.
I go to my gym in the mornings and I’ll hang around until late afternoon at one of the cafes or even mamaks just so I stay out the whole day.
Staying out forces me to be more productive; for I’m finding my own office a bit too comfortable lately!
I Am 80s Cafe Petaling Jaya
We are always on the lookout for a cafe away from the usual crowded locality of Publika, Hartamas, SS2 and Damansara.
We both write, and we appreciate the occasional change of surroundings that might act as a catalyst for the dreaded writers’ block.
This was an unlikely discovery, for there is no reason for me to be in the neighbourhood but as circumstances would have it, I did went pass this street one day and saw the signboard.
“Oh, wow. A hidden cafe. Looks peaceful here.” I had thought.
