Sabah Tuaran mee in PJ – SS3 – Ah Soon Kor restoran

Many sacrifices are made when one leaves home and migrates to another city, state or country.
Home flavours is one of them. For Penangites we have heard it all the time, they have the best char kuey teow and prawn mee.
For Ipoh it is the hor fun and dim sum. Melaka lay claim on the most authentic Nyonya fare (though I personally find that debatable) while the east coast has their nasi kerabu and lekor.
Sarawak’s laksa and kolo mee are legendary.

Now, what about Sabah?

Other than seafood and fish noodles (I’ve only been to KK twice) I drew a blank myself. It was only nearly a year ago that I knew of “tuaran mee” and that it is available in KL!

A friend who is a Sabahan gushed positively of Ah Soon Kor’s Tuaran mee.
It took me a year to get myself here for I’ve wrongly assumed that the noodles are only available in the mornings. Since weekday mornings is not an option, weekend mornings were all I had.

And trust me, weekend mornings are just as difficult to secure a slot.

Chinese New Year feast menu – DYNASTY RESTAURANT (NON- HALAL), RENAISSANCE KUALA LUMPUR HOTEL

It is my first visit to Dynasty Restaurant at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel and it certainly won’t be my last.
Throughout the 8 course meal I was constantly hmm-ing and oooh-ing as I tucked hungrily into every dish.

Goodness Greens Cafe – TTDI for salads, vegan soups, acai bowls, vegan latté, cold-pressed juices

My wonderful neighbourhood recently welcomed another cafe.
Thankfully, it wasn’t another generic coffee joint with minimalistic decor proclaiming to serve the best cuppa in town.

Big bowl curry mee at Selayang – Coca Restaurant

This 25th December, as my FB got flooded with images of Christmas trees, pasta, turkey & beef I was looking forward to some quiet time to for writing.

As usual what was planned didn’t go as planned.
The festive season saw some friends on holidays, and thus with time on their hands.

An invite from a friend came on Xmas eve, asking if I’m open to explore some food joints. I had thought why not; since I have few like-minded and similar tastebuds foodie friends and having them available for food exploration is considered a blessing.

And so Christmas day began at 6.30am.
First on our list was this “giant bowl curry mee” in Selayang, notoriously known for its long wait but indubitably tempting due to its appearance.

Just opposite from Clique Clinic (my default clinic for Coolsculpting and Q-Switch facial, with stem cells procedure in the works) is this small cafe Le Bread Days.

The one thing that catapulted the cafe to worthy fame is their salted egg yolk (molten) croissant (RM6.90).
For this price it is one hell of a good croissant. Rich, thick and decently potent in salted egg flavour, the molten salted egg yolk filling is enough to send anyone who is a fan of lau sar bao swooning.
