Here’s a good tai chow place so near to me and I haven’t stepped in before in my decade of being a KL-ite.
Well, I don’t eat at such “tai chow” places much since I usually dine alone or at most with 2-3 friends.

Ashley’s by Living Food @ Telawi, Bangsar – healthy, organic cuisine

Following the success of their first outlet in Menara Tan & Tan at Jalan Tun Razak (known as Living Food Bistro) Ashley’s at Telawi aims to serves their fans at the Bangsar/Damansara/PJ area.
And yes I’m one of their happy fans now that Ashley’s is nearer to home. 🙂

Encore Patisserie Cafe, Taman Desa – good desserts!

Too many cafes, too little time.
Does that sound familiar to you? 🙂

Recently I gave up trying to keep up with the current proliferation of “coffee cafes”. I’ll only hop into a cafe if it comes highly recommended by some coffee snobs connoisseurs that I trust or if I happen to be in the vicinity.

For Encore Patisserie Cafe it was the latter.
There wasn’t any raving reviews about it so it didn’t come across as of any particular urgency.

But when I walked in last week I thought Encore does deserve a mention. For one the array of pastries and cakes looked really well-made; shape, form and ingredients.

Brunch in Bangsar: Fancy Breakfast Club – weekdays & weekends

With all the hype and the on-going mushrooming of cafes and brunch outlets, I actually have a difficult time recommending a good brunch venue to my friends who cared to ask me for recommendations.
The ones who ask are those who are like me; after spending their hard earned cash on mediocre big breakfast platters and enduring silly queues at some popular brunch joints only to be served overpriced, badly prepared eggs and canned red beans, and had wondered if there is actually a decent joint in KL/PJ that knows how proper poached/scrambled/baked eggs are supposed to be like.

Halal: Chinese Muslim Food @ Dong Yi Shun, Kelana Jaya – PJ

While I was on my project of seeking halal outlets few months back, I visited a few restaurants that serves Chinese style food; outlets that serves pork free or halal outlets.
The realization of how insanely popular (and perhaps extremely profitable?) such businesses are was an eye-opener.
The Muslims do love our Chinese cuisine; especially the steamed fish, sweet sour meat and all the salted egg and butter milk dishes!
