I love my burgers. Problem is, good burgers doesn’t come cheap.

Ramly burgers may be wallet friendly yes, but are a no-no for me. Although I did enjoy Ana’s Green Apple burger with sambal (probably because of the novelty factor), I really detest these roadside, oily, overly processed meat + by-products patties passed off as edible burgers.

My recent discovery of an affordable, albeit small, PORK Burger in SS2 Wai Sik Kai, provided the solution to my dilemma for now. Since the stall has 3 type of burgers, I made a visit yesterday for the LAMB one.

Shaun Lee, of Wine Actually got me at ” I am a strong believer in marketing with a little bit of love, people and social media, & this campaign is probably just a direct manifestation of that” when I opened & read his email last month. A firm believer of the same principle, I was immediately supportive, & but I had to rack my brains for a way to “share ” this wine, since I generally avoid alcohol.

But I can stomach alcohol in food; as well as desserts so this provided the perfect opportunity to launch our monthly cookout idea that myself & cook-aholic friend Kevin has been discussing for months, but never got down to it.

I’ll let the video tell the story, it pretty sums up the whole evening.

The Launch of Fahrenheit 88, Bukit Bintang

Yesterday was the soft launch of Fahrenheit 88, Bukit Bintang. The most FAQ by everyone was “What about Uniqlo??“, which is one of the anchor tenants here in Fahrenheit 88, (the other being Signature IT ) but that is scheduled to be opened only in November 2010.

But no worries, Fahrenheit is still worth checking out if you are within the vicinity. After all, isn’t the above a far cry and a tremendous improvement from the dilapidated facade of KL Plaza?

Another discovery! And it’s an easily accessible venue for affordable pork burgers! :yahoo:

The aunty manning the stall is very friendly. Can’t say the same for the Indian/Myanmar/whatever dude who was frying the patty. Quite an arrogant fella.

The most comprehensive eye-check I had to date!

I have been using contact lens as long as I can remember. My normal mode of “eye care ” involves walking into an eye care store, getting my eyes checked & praying that my eye power has either; miraculously lowered or remains the same. Then I’ll walk out with a 6 months stash of Acuvue Monthly disposables or whichever brand that may be having a promotion.

While I try to be be good, getting them eyes examined every 6 months; if truth were to be told, it is only when my vision starts to get blury (which is then I realized maybe my power has changed) I would hastily make an effort.

I’m sure most of us can relate to this.

My recent good fortune had landed me an opportunity to review Johnson & Johnson’s One Day Acuvue Moist. I’ve just picked them up last week so my review on that would be after 2 weeks of use.

For now, I absolutely must share with you the most COMPREHENSIVE eye examination of my life! Seriously. Bear with me as I take you through how a PROPER & THOROUGH eye-check should be like. It is NOT the usual “put on a pair of glasses, optician switches the lenses til he determine your eye power & the whole “can you read out the line below the ‘D’ ” routine”.

And, there is a difference between an OPTICIAN & an OPTOMETRIST.

The whole session lasted about 20 minutes & was concise, efficient & comprehensive. Mr Woon, the Optometrist is experienced, knowledgable & affable, making the whole session a truly educational one.

We started out with the usual tests.

Tai Zi Heen, Prince Hotel KL – All You Can Eat Dim Sum Buffet

Prince Hotel KL Chinese Restaurant Tai Zi Heen offers a pretty value for money HALAL dim sum buffet at RM55++ (RM63.00 nett) on weekends. Starting from 1130am to 2pm, order & staple as much you could from its moderately extensive menu.

As with all buffets, there are hit & misses. Naturally, we hoped for more of the former than the latter.

Even with our expectations in check since we are all aware that this is halal fare, the general consensus among the 4 of us was “Ok“, “you get what you pay for“, “decent“; with some dishes bordering on inedible (our personal opinions ok) & some “good“.

Let’s begin with the GOOD:

Egg tarts were flaky & light with sweet centres. The Crispy corn flake-crusted tuna rolls were my fav. Crusty cornflakes encasing flaky tuna with chilli & chopped corn/carrots is hard to beat 😉 .
