Pork Burger – Brussels, Jaya One

I came here under the recommendation of a reliable foodie who knows her burgers.

And I came here for the burger alone as I have never remembered food at Brussels to be memorable. So one can say this was a pretty straightfoward mission; get to Brussels, get a table, get my order fired & wait to devour the burger & split out my judgement.

The other half kept himself occupied with a Leffe, while eyeing me drumming my fingers impatiently for the burger. I just couldn’t wait to satisfy my curiosity of this “moist, juiciest ever & thick porki-licious patty“, as such was the lip-smacking description communicated to me by my friend.

pla dib @ The Heritage Village, Seri Kembangan

Once in a while, up pops an outlet that doesn’t churn out the dreary copy- cat dishes or fusion disasters.
Naturally, such outlets immediately inspires hope, yet anxiety as well, “could it be a fluke?” , ” can the rest of the menu held up to expectations? “.
Hence in bated breath I await for opportunities for subsequent visits while I tuck away the pictures from my first. And to be happily satiated again & again on my return visits simply inspired today’s blog post.

pla dib @ The Heritage Village, Seri Kembangan is one such place. Apparently a franchise from Thailand, pla dib (meaning raw fish in Thai) does Thai fusion and does it damn well.

With the restaurant named after ‘raw fish’, I was hard pressed not to order the Salmon Labb (RM10), a ceviche wannabe dish.

Raw salmon slices doused with shoyu & lime juice, sprinkled with chilli flakes & crushed peanuts made the perfect starter. The fish was at parts raw (sections that weren’t ‘cooked’ by the lime concoction) & parts cooked slightly. Each slice was delightfully tangy, sweet, spicy and sour, a medley of flavours all on the tongue at the same instant. Hmmmm… yummy!

The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) 2010 Gala Launch @ Sunway Convention Centre

More than 2000 of the country’s who’s and who’s gathered in the Grand Ballroom of Sunway Convention Centre last night for the Gala Launch of one of Malaysia’s top culinary event – The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) .

An annual event, which started from a humble beginning of a dozen establishments a decade ago now has more than 70 fine dining restaurants in the country; & we see the numbers growing yearly.

I think the Arthur’s Day Bus is a brilliant idea! This bus makes its way thorough the streets of Kuala Lumpur & make pit stops at some outlets, namely Jarrod & Rawlins, Souled Out, Sids Pub TTDI & Royal Oak during the whole month of September as part of its countdown to Arthur’s Day celebration this 24 September at Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon.
