Royale Vietnam – a new restaurant at Feast Village, Starhill Gallery

The Feast Village at Starhill Gallery will soon welcome a new establishment to its’ family of restaurants.

Royale Vietnam is scheduled to open its’ doors at the end of June 2011 (Exact date to be advised) serving truly authentic Vietnamese cuisine prepared by Vietnamese chefs.

Below: One of the jovial chefs, who is a photography enthusiast as well & was seen taking pictures throughout the preview session!

I enjoyed the dishes that I sampled that day, but I was more bowled -over by the presentation of each dish. Obviously much effort & time was spent on food arrangement alone; and I do hope that translates directly to the food preparation process as well.

This is the mango salad with prawns, in the shape of a caterpillar. Such a lovable form isn’t it? I’m sure it would be able to wheedle out a smile from anyone who looked at it.

As you would have known from my previous post, The Midsummer Nights Feast 2011 kicks off on the 1st – 8th July this year. And as promised, I’m sharing the menu of the each of the featured chef each night during the festival.
Here’s starting the week with our very own Malaysian Chef Wai! (Malaysia Boleh! )

Chef Wai has been helming Shook! for the past year, ever since Chef Kevin Cape left for Shook! Shanghai.

Famous star-crowned chefs of the international gourmet scene will be there to pamper you along with award-winning chefs from the finest of Feast Village restaurants.
The feast this year will be better than ever with a special focus on top quality cuisines from around the world, enhanced by international live Jazz performances in an ambience of world class sophistication every night of the festival.
This year‟s theme “Master Chefs of the Five Elements” pays tribute to the five elements of creative powers with different culinary concepts every night, namely Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Space.
Among these include “Tribute to Mother Earth” by 3-Star Michelin Chef Benoit Vidal from France.

DISAPPOINTED.

Yup, disappointed.

Disclaimer: I’m particular with my desserts so do take my reviews with a pinch of salt & more often than not; you might want to deduct perhaps 30% off the overall rating. Hahaha.

Anyhow, this place has been in my radar for while now. Cakes are always my TOP priority from my “new places or food-to-try list“. The list gets longer each day, and some places eventually forgotten; but never for cakes!

So even though the location was inconvenient (all the way in KL) & the venue less than ideal (in a club!) I planned, plotted, scheduled my time with some friends & finally after 2 weeks, stood happily in front of the cakes chiller one hot evening at La Bibliotheque, Avenue K.

Dim Sum & Rice Dumplings At Li Yen, Ritz Carlton KL with Chef Tan

The rice dumpling festival is coming to almost an end; with most hotels & restaurants offering their once-a-year creations til 6th June 2011.
What about you? Have you tried any of these fancy, loaded with abalone & what- nots yet this year?

Aside from a 3 kg one (HERE in Sunway Resorts Hotel) & a lovely red dates one by One World Hotel , here’s one that I had the opportunity to make myself at Li Yen, Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur just last week.

Yes, “make” as in getting my hands dirty actually stuffing the dumplings & tying it up prior to boiling. Usually, the case is the other way round, me untying the dumpling & stuffing my mouth with it.

I can’t the remember the last time I had to apply for a job. I mean like seriously. These days I get job offers over meals, at events, during parties. I haven’t updated my resume in years.
But it’s always good to keep an eye out for opportunities no? Other than these upfront offers, I thought it would good if I go back to the drawing board & do the old- school job searching practice of using jobs sites; just for kicks, to see if there’s anything out there that I may have missed; or perhaps I’ll come across an interesting job that may an entirely different genre from what I’m currently doing.
I think I could do with a change… *confused*
