Breadfruits ranks high on my brief list of favourite F & B joints in the Klang Valley.
The reason is simple; this cosy joint serves great food at good prices.
While I understand that every F & B entrepreneur cares about the P & L, I think too many focuses on the P & L alone.
But then that is just my thoughts. I’m not the one running the businesses so I can’t claim to know their challenges.
If I disagree with the food after my visit, I just won’t return. After all, taste is subjective yes?
You might have noticed too that I haven’t been recommending cafes or restaurants for a while, for like I said, I find the menu for most to be more visually pleasing than palatable.
Here is an exception.
I love my brunches at Breadfruits. The flavours are consistent and suitable for my palate; healthy juices, non-greasy savouries prepared with very fresh tasting and wholesome ingredients.
A plus point for many is their non-halal status, which translates to pork bacon and sausages.
I don’t care for that much since I generally avoid processed food, but I do love the well prepared dishes.
When I got to know that they’ve launched their dinner menu recently I made time to drop in as soon as I could.
I stepped in with high expectations, and even then, Breadfruits didn’t disappoint. The bill was almost RM200, and for once in a long, long while, I walked away satisfied with the money spent.
We started with a salad, which I thought for RM23.80 is a steal, unless you compare it to cooking it yourself at home, which isn’t the point here.
As usual it was the quality, portion and EXECUTION that did it for me.
The large pieces of squids were bouncy and flavourful while the charred smokiness added to its overall flavour.
Fork a piece together with peppery, crisp rocket leaves and juicy cherry tomatoes tossed with coriander & lime and shove it into your mouth. Delicious!
