“Good? Worth driving all the way to USJ? Wake up at 6am wor.. U must tell me if good enough…”
To many, waking up at 6 am to drive to USJ is a big deal.
Admittedly, I’m one of those who would have similar reservations. Now that some of my friends knew I visited Gai Ali, they are seeking assurance if it is worth waking up for, worth the drive, worth the time?
Well, to be honest – I won’t describe the nasi kandar as “power“.
This is NOT your typical commercial nasi kandar outlet with super rich (read: greasy), thick curries. If you wish to visit Rogayah, set your mind to expect comforting, tasty home cooked dishes. Come for the experience of being welcomed into someone’s home, where food is assuringly cooked from pastes made from scratch and single-handedly prepared by a gutsy, kind Muslim Penangite lady who had learnt the ropes from her beloved mother, of which she spoke of fondly.
Phu Quoc Beer Festival 2017!
Phu Quoc island was on the tourist radar for the past four years but rapid development was only in place for the past two.
With support (and budget) from the government to transform this idyllic archipelago into a quality eco-tourism destination, Phu Quoc has morphed from a sleepy island to a must-visit beach escape for locals (yes, there were plenty of visiting Vietnamese from HCMC/Hanoi), expats and beachlover -tourists alike.
With the rumoured direct Air Asia KL – Phu Quoc flight in 2018, expect hordes of Malaysians to be part of the tourist statistics soon!
My first sight of Phu Quoc was thanks to the inaugural Phu Quoc Beer Festival.

In 2009 (story –> HERE) my nasi lemak with 2 eggs plus the standard condiments was RM2.50.
My partner’s order was RM3.70 with sotong.
Today (2017), a serving of sotong alone is RM3.00. And a basic set as below is RM1.70.
What is happening to our economy? Our RM?

In Style • Hong Kong: experience Hong Kong in Malaysia!
From winning a “amazing race style” competition (by Accor & Cathay Pacific in 2013) to “living” in Hong Kong for two weeks last December (hosted by Eton Properties – Mini Central/Stanley, Apple Dorms, Dragon Centre), I find Hong Kong an incredible contrast of experiences that adds exhilaration to all my previous trips – the people, the fashion, the street food, the economy, the Michelin star restaurants, the taxis, the buildings and markets – there is so much to take in!

While I can tell you all about shopping, hiking (HK has marvellous, SAFE hiking trails!) and of course, food (my expertise), I just recently got to know more about HK products during the In Style • Hong Kong event organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
In 2 hours, I drank tea from tea capsules brewed in a tea machine, assembled a cute hippo from wooden cut-outs, got my very first selfie stick and realized there is such a thing as a ‘Non-Spill-Suction Mug‘ which I found super useful for my partner who likes her drinks close by while working on her laptop.
