Mooncakes from Toh Yuen Restaurant, Klang Executive Club

The mooncakes from Toh Yuen, Klang Executive Club bordered between decent and pretty good.
I had 4 sent to me for sampling and I loved the Assorted Fruits Nuts most.
That is surprising as I usually detest it for the weird wintermelon aftertaste and the overly sweet, sticky paste.

This version by Toh Yuen it’s like a granola bar instead of a mooncake!
Densely packed with nuts and seeds, the binding paste isn’t sweet & the pastry crust is not oily.
I felt like I’m eating an energy bar and being the health, fitness nut that I am, I immediately took a liking to this.
In fact now I’m thinking of buying more so that I can stock it as my energy/snack bar! 🙂

Life Juice Co @ 1 Utama – cold pressed juice in Malaysia

What makes cold pressed juice unique?
In convention blending and juicing fresh fruits and vegetables are being cut and ground by fast-spinning blades. This process adds some heat and exposes ingredients to air; two things that cut down the percentage of essential nutrients that make their way into your glass.
This “rough” action also destroys many of the vitamins, enzymes, proteins, and minerals that we want from our juice.

Here’s what you need to know:
Traditional juicers/ centrifugal models – juicers/blenders.
Masticating juicer – cold pressed juicers.

Now that you got a general idea of the different models, let me explain a bit more about cold pressed goodness. 😀

Masticating juicers extract juice by a slow and careful process of hydraulically extracting fruit and vegetable juice (pressing and grinding fruits and vegetables without adding heat, hence the term “cold-pressed”) and this process exerts just enough pressure to extract the juice.

Cold press juicing is so precise with its process of extraction that there is minimal air and heat so very little oxidation occurs.
This means you can enjoy your cold pressed juice up to 3 days after extraction, all the while preserving its vitamins, enzymes, trace minerals and overall nutrients up to five times more than any other juicer.

Review – Luna Bar : Blueberry Bliss

This Luna Bar is one of the tastiest snack bar I’ve had. Well, anything at this point would taste better than a Quest Bar.
I’m not saying I don’t like Quest Bars, but Quest Bars are SO SERIOUS..so nutritionally dense and so … CHEWY.

But the Luna Bar isn’t a bar I would call ‘healthy’ no matter what they claim. It even said “whole nutrition bar for women” and while I concurred on how tasty it is and that a vast majority of women would love it since it’s all fruity, sweet and coated with yogurt, I’m not that forgiving of the sweetness level.

Limapulo – Jalan Doraisamy: A Nyonya meal in KL for dinner

This is a follow up from my previous post about the set lunches here at Limapulo.
If you had missed it, the link is –> HERE).
As I have said, I enjoyed the set lunches (or rather the ones that I ordered) but not so much the dinner.

Dinner was actually my first visit and while it didn’t make much of a positive impression on me nor my fellow dinner mates,  I’m glad that I returned for lunch, for the Ayam Berempah Curry was fabulous and the Mee Siam is quite good.

Limapulo – Baba Can Cook : Good Nyonya lunch in KL

I spent a considerable amount of money eating in a number of Nyonya restaurants in Melaka; seeking for the elusive homecooked true Nyonya meal, one that I can confidently pass the verdict “excellent” and finally recommend to my friends and readers as “the Nyonya place” to go.
