The Mid-Autumn or Mooncake Festival is just around the corner. It is one of the most celebrated Chinese festivals & is held each year on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. It is a time of celebration with family, prayers, mooncakes & lantern parades.

For me, I cared little for the lanterns & prayers. It’s the time of the year for me to gorge on mooncakes!!

Not a very traditionalist at heart, this year is a very good year for me as there are so so many funky combinations of mooncakes flavours available!

As I was writing the previous post, I checked through JTean Kitchen’s FB & saw this poster. It seemed that with the current mooncake festival, Master Tean is taking his creativity level up another notch with Bak Kut Teh mooncakes!

J Tean Kitchen Restaurant in SSTwo Mall – fusioned pork BKT, pork burgers, pork pies & more!

It’s been a while since I have written about the swine. That’s mainly so because of the Ramadan month; and hence my blog has been populated with Ramadan buffets & bazaars posts so I had avoided non-halal posts in respect to my Muslim readers.

Anyhow, it’s time to get back on track! This post was drafted a while back, but J Tean Kitchen is still very much in business & drawing in the crowds for their innovative & tasty porky dishes in SSTwo Mall. There’s isn’t much good food outlets there really, and J Tean Kitchen is definitely a good bet if you are in the area. And oh, parking is free still.

The outlet spaciously seats a big group, or a family yet still cosy enough for a small yumcha gang or a couple.

Just choose whichever corners that caught your fancy..

……or you could opt for alfresco balcony seating with wooden shades to shield yourself from the afternoon rays.
The outlet is eye-catching; with a array of beautifully “Chinese” designed furniture, ranging from antique mix of opium bed, drum table (see below!), drum stool imported directly from China to modern pieces of glass tops tables & Ikea-like chairs.

Just last month I was thinking of throwing my BB Torch.
Was bored senseless. Nothing to shout about asthetically. Won’t turn heads as I whipped it out of my Gucci.

The BlackBerry® Torch™ 9810 (it looks exactly the same as my current 1st Gen BB Torch).

Yes, the BB is a totally reliable workhorse & the BBM is god-sent; perfect in most ways, ideal for my lifestyle. But sexayy? Nah.. that’s never an adjective to describe a BB.

Until I lay my eyes on the new BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900 that’s it. Whoaaaa.. now that’s a nice little new toy I won’t mind owning!!! And yes, I’m going to throw away my BB Torch.

Ramadan Buffet 2011 – Cinnamon Cafe, One World Hotel

I have read previous reviews on Cinnamon Cafe’s Ramadan Buffet last year & was suitably impressed.
In fact, it has left such an impression on me that I had always wanted to sample it myself.

The opportunity presented itself this year, when I was invited to sample the spread with some friends. I even got one of the bloggers to help me record a video (which will be uploaded soon!) of the marvellous spread here.

No Ramadan buffet above the price of RM60 should be without LAMB.
Below: Whole Roast Lamb With Roasted Vegetables And Briyani Rice And Sauce Condiments.

As the spread is the widest I have been so far, even more than Latest Recipe at Le Meridien and The Living Room, Westin KL, I will keep my description concise & let the pics do the talking.

The gorgeous table sets the mood for the evening.
Mellow lights, white flowers, subdued conversation; as guests of the New Zealand Cloudy Bay wine pairing dinner mingle & sipped the famed Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc.

All guests with a glass in hand.

The Hill at Damansara hosted the event, and the beautiful Cloudy Bay wines were paired with some exquisite specially crafted dishes by the chef that night.

One of our mains: Pan Fried Duck Breast With a Honey Mango Reduction.

The Shah Alam Ramadan Bazaar is famed to be the biggest in KL/Selangor & since I only have time to visit one this year, it’s my obvious choice for my one & only blogpost /vlog on Ramadan Bazaars for 2011.

~~Yup, a video of this outing with some bloggers & friends are being edited as we speak so that will be shared much later!~~ This is pretty much a picture heavy post (don’t worry, they are resized for optimum viewing/loading) so I’ll keep description short.

This post aims to give my readers (especially so for those not in Malaysia) of how’s a typical Ramadan Bazaar’s like, and the insanely huge assortment of food sold.

The typical Malay rice stall.

Delicous lamb chops,curry squids, stir-fried cockles & asam fish.

Essentially a Ramadan Bazaar is like Malaysia’s nation-wide, 1 month food carnival. The bazaar typically runs for a full month (also known as the Ramadan month) prior to the Muslim’s “New Year” Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, which falls on the 1st of the Shawal Month (the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar).
