Yes, overdue.
I know I know. But I usually post tech launches pretty immediately, and the delay for this simply cos the launch and the phones itself didn’t excite me.

But maybe I’m about to eat my words, for the announcement of the Nokia’s Pureview at MWC 2012; a 41 MP camera and the zippy new Windows 8 did make me sit up and took notice.
So, Nokia, are you making a comeback? I do hope so!

Las Delicias – Citta Mall

Las Delicias in Citta Mall apparently has a strict no-photography policy. Or rather, that policy was in place when I was there last Sat night. A fellow food blogger who visited a week before was spared the unpleasant experience that we (ulric and I) encounter when we were there, probably because that particular staff wasn’t present at that time of his dinner.

Great food. Bad customer relations. Would you dine at such a restaurant ?

Citta Mall is fast affirming itself as the upcoming hip and happening mall in the PJ vicinity. While the more strategically located SSMall is still unable to excite the epicureans in us, Citta Mall’s outlets are surprisingly noteworthy, with most outlets offering intriguing fusioned cuisine but there are still the good old Chillis, Subway and Pappa Rich for those who rather stick to the familiar.

Discover the uniqueness and richness of the Turkish culture as the Turkish Art, Dance and Food Festival will be held at Shook! Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang, for 8 nights from Feb 25th till March 3, 2012.

The last encounter I had with anything Turkish was the Turkish Culinary & Cultural Week organised by Turkey Tourism and Information Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Malaysia. I had always wanted to visit Istanbul and that event had shed some insights on Turkey’s culture.

However, there wasn’t much on the food. The craft and art aspect was present; as we listened to the songs, enjoyed the performances of Turkish classical music and folk dance as well as demonstrations on Turkish marbling art (Ebru) and Turkish calligraphy by the country’s native artists.

I’m back again with a post on food in the old “new” wing of 1 Utama.
While my previous postings has been generally positive, with some favourites like Opika, Putien and Yong Tau Foo Eat and Happy, this is one that I wouldn’t recommend.

ING Malaysia – “Meet Your Future Self” Facebook App

Yesterday, ING Malaysia unveiled its new series called INGeasi For You, comprising 3 all-in-one, flexible investment-linked insurance packages that offer protection and investment options to suit one’s needs at the different life stages.

The 3 packages are Discover, Achieve and Build.

Discover: When you graduate and join the working world
Achieve: As you advance on your career path
Build: As you start a family and have to plan for your future and that of your loved ones.

Now, I already have 3 policies, which monthly instalments in total adds up to more than my monthly rent. But is it worth it?

Of course it is! You won’t believe the ludicrous amount a medical bill can come up to, even if it’s for a minor health issue. The moment you’re hospitalised, be prepared to part with your life savings if you’re admitted into any private hospital.

However, with 3 policies, I might not require another. So what’s my interest in the “INGeasi For You”?

The Volvo V60, moving to a new home and IKEA shopping!

When I first sat in the Volvo V60 during the launch, it certainly has not crossed my mind that I will, 1 month down the road, actually drive and make full use of this powerful sportswagon like an actual owner.

It was an experience alright, driving a big sportswagon versus the smaller cars that I was more accustomed to. But it turned out to be an easy beast to handle as the steering and maneuvering was easy and smooth. You won’t feel like your driving a car that is 4 metres+ long. I know you might wonder if that’s for real, but trust me, it is! 🙂

2 variants was launched last month; the T4 and the T5. The one I ~~terrorized the streets with~~ reviewed was the T4 variant.

The Toyota Prius and the All New Toyota Prius C Launch

Though I’m hardly a car enthusiast, I started getting car-savvy recently due to the company I keep. A few dear friends are car writers and petrol heads. The influx of invites to car launches since the beginning of the year had me no choice but to brush up on my automotive intelligence.

But I have personal interest in hybrid cars. Prior to the Honda Insight Bloggers’ Trip, “hybrid” was “electric car”. It’s environmentally friendly. That was all I knew it was.
The trip served as a very educational outing, with most clouded assumptions cleared & I went away much smarter and enlightened.
Since then, I have eyed the Lexus CT200 as the next car to test, since it won the 1st place in the Asian Auto Ambank Fuel Efficiency Awards 2011 in the Hybrids category, guzzling a mere 3.8l fuel/100km.
Sadly, I do not know of anyone that drives it. Obviously it’s high price tag didn’t make it affordable for the masses.

Fret not though, just yesterday UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd launched the 3rd Gen Toyota Prius (1st runner up at the Asian Auto Ambank Fuel Efficiency Awards 2011 in the Hybrids category @3.9l/100km) more affordably priced at RM139,900 and the ALL NEW Prius c at RM97,000.

FOOD: Opika Restaurant @ 1 Utama, “The New” Old Wing – Organic food made tasty!

I’ve never been a fan of organic food, but that’s not because of it’s taste, but more due to its prices.

I’m aware of all the organic and health goodness; trust me, I read a lot about nutrition as I’m a health nut. While I’m all for low-fat, less sugar and non-oily food, I drew the line when it comes to organic food. Somehow, I could never justify the prices to myself.

Yes, your humble RM4 nasi ulam in Ramadan bazaars is RM30 + here. But keep in mind that you’re paying for organic ingredients here. And you would pay for superb Nasi Ulam right?
