I used to think that Chiangmai is a boring, laid-back and slow town.
I get excited instead with pulsating Bangkok; flashy lights, sea of humans and the spark of energy in the air.
Chiangmai in comparison is sedate.
But I won’t say it is boring anymore. Not the least.
Just a month back I was here for a Chiangmai- Pai – Bangkok trip with the Thailand tourism folks. I must been getting old; for the tranquility, placid and scenic leg of the trip turned out more appealing than shopping in Platinum Mall.
Australia has always been beef, dairy and wines to me. In Gold Coast, its geographically strategic location with pristine ocean to the east and fertile farm country to the west…
Awaken from my slumber as early as 4.30am (Gold Coast time) I would open the balcony doors of my 22nd floor and gaze out to the beach.
The wind carries the sounds of waves and the scent of the sea right where to where I am, heavy-lidded and languorous on my Sofitel MyBed, contemplating my next move.
Back to sleep? Some writing? Check my emails? Change and head out to the beach?
Gosh, choices, choices, choices.
Melbourne, Sydney and now, Gold Coast.

Flashback moment: My Melbourne adventure was 12 days long (itinerary & details here) and was a self-driven (with a guide) trip. Sydney was more work-related (for Luxperience) and I was just around Darling Harbour area.
Gold Coast.
Now Gold Coast was pure relaxation. Easy itinerary, great accommodation at the Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach, food, food and more food and some sight-seeing along the way.
