Korea: Everland Resort – a fun theme park in Gyeonggi-do province!

Everland Resort is a theme park in Yongin, a city in Gyeonggi-do province, South Korea, an approximately 2 hours by land travel from Seoul city.
It’s advisable to arrive early (by 10am) as there are so many attractions and some of these have very long queues so it is not possible to explore every single one of them unless you’re early into the park and the last to leave!

Insa-dong, Seoul, Korea: Food, cafes, arts, souvenirs (shopping, leisure, cultural)

..in continuation from my previous post: Seoul, Korea – For Shopping & Leisure: Samcheong-dong – cafes, galleries, shopping!

The route from Samcheong-dong to Insa-dong is sheltered on both sides by trees and with the mild Korean weather, it made for a very pleasant short stroll.

One night in The Junior Suite at Hilton Tokyo, Shinjuku – Review & one morning walk in Shinjuku

Arriving late at 10pm to Hilton Tokyo, no thanks to a delayed flight, I missed a Japanese dinner (one of my favourite cuisines) and had to order room service. Imagine seeing all the delicious food photos of your fellow friends on Instagram enroute from the airport and then being told that you have missed it.

A slight oversight resulted in a few too many lifts trips up and down during the check-in process. Imagine enduring that after a 7-8 hours flight followed by a 2 hours ride from the airport. I was starving, cold, exhausted and now, officially in a ghastly mood.

The Hilton hospitality kicked in at the right time. I was upgraded and walking into my Junior Suite, I felt my frustrations dissipate. The kind lady who escorted me to my suite assisted to adjust the air con temperature, the lighting and showed me the most important thing I wanted to see; the room service menu.

Nyonya Chang – Nyonya Dumplings in Melaka

**UPDATE: 9 nyonya dumplings (chang) in Melaka : https://rebeccasaw.com/best-nyonya-chang-in-melaka-4-more-tasted-mrs-sim-mrs-lim-bukit-serindit-michelle-soo-mei-xin-cafe/

***********************************************************************************************************************

I’m not a big fan of Nyonya Chang/Nyonya Dumplings actually. It’s just that when you’re in Melaka you have to do the Nyonya thing; eat Nyonya food and seek the local popular delicacies.
And since I haven’t ate rice dumpling; specifically Nyonya dumplings for a long time, I decided one is not enough and bought myself 3 on a recent trip and 1 more on a separate outing.

Hostels/Guest Houses in Seoul, Korea – Mapo-gu (Hongik, University Area)

Based on my experience of traveling to Korea (4 times in this lifetime and 3 trips this year alone), hotels are about USD200 and above a night. If you’re traveling with a partner, then you have someone to split the bill with.

For single travelers or for those on budget, a comfortable, safe and clean place to stay with a convenient location to boot may be more ideal. This category of travelers would rather spend their Korean won on shopping, food or for traveling to the many attractions within this beautiful country than for a hotel room.
For this category, hostels, or more commonly known as ‘guesthouse’ are best.

What to eat in Jeju Island: Local food – Black Pork on Black Pork (Heuk Dwaeji) Street

What better post to start off my Jeju adventures if not for food? And this particular delicacy is a Jeju specialty; aptly named the Jeju Black Pig, a breed of domestic pig found on the Korean island.

The Jeju Black Pig is a small pig with black skin (hence the name) with smooth coat of hair. It has erect, unfolded ears and a narrow snout.
