Imbi Hawker Stalls @ open air carpark beside Honda showroom – I love the Ampang yong tow foo!

I seldom crave for Chinese food but when I do it has to be really good.
One of the few Chinese food that I enjoy and do crave for is dim sum and yong tau foo. There are others of course (siew yok, char siew, etc) but I really really love my yong tau foo and dim sum!
I have yet to uncover really good yong tau foo in TTDI/PJ area and though I have read positive reviews on a few places in Puchong, I’m the sort who will travel for burgers & steaks but not for Chinese /local cuisine.
And so I don’t think I’ll be trying any of those awesome yong tau foo soon. But hey, is anyone here volunteering to fetch me? I don’t mind if I’m not driving! 😀

But I digress. Where was I? Ah yes, about cravings.

Now one of the very few cravings I get from time to time is for this yong tau foo on Jalan Imbi, near the Honda showroom and the famous pork noodles at Win Seng Heng coffee shop.

When I got invited to do the review for Soi23, it was a bit of a last minute engagement. But since I have never been to Soi23, it should be a good experience going there and trying out the food. From the invite, there was some expectations of having local favourites as well as some Thai offerings since it is a Ramadhan buffet.

Ramadhan Buffet KL – Melting Pot, Concorde Hotel, KL

This was my FIRST Ramadan buffet of the YEAR! Yes I know it seems premature isn’t it? 🙂

Anyhow I’ll never say “ No” to festive seasons and food.
Also, this is my first visit to Melting Pot, Concorde KL, of which I have heard many positive feedback on its food by a close friend of mine who is a regular here due to her work. So I was quite worked up with anticipation! 🙂

Let me start with one of my favourite dish that evening; the Nasi Kerabu with ALL of the essential elements of the dish; from the  ‘budu’  (a thick pungent fish sauce) in belacan to the dry grated coconut, everything was available for a complete authentic plate of Nasi Kerabu.

Venezuelan Food in KL – Venezuelan Gastronomic Fest @ Vogue Cafe, Renaissance Hotel, KL

I had valuable insights into Venezuelan cuisine yesterday, with thanks to the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Malaysia as well as Venezuelan Author and Chef Carmen Rawstron.

Bubbly Chef Carmen is such a doll; extremely informative about all things Venezuelan and her superb enthusiasm was infectious! She unabashedly shared her knowledge and very generously bestowed recipes and tips of her Venezuelan cuisine.

I’m a strong advocate that as a foodie one should be game to sample any cuisine or dish. Officially this is my first time savouring Venezuelan cuisine, but on the other hand, I find some of the dishes familiar, especially the beans, the rice and the feta cheese sticks. Somehow, it reminded me strongly of Mexican cuisine.

Yesterday’s Mercedes-Benz Petronas F1 Team Bash was a blast!

The car was a beauty (well, we don’t expect anything less from Mercedes right?) and the venue; the newly debuted The Pool has reasons to claim their venue to be the next hottest lounge+bar+club in KL.
