Fuzion – All Day Dining Cafe at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa

Fuzion, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa’s latest baby cost a whopping RM14-15 mil in renovations and though I’m no restoration expert, I’m inclined to say it’s moolah well spent.

The 360-seat cafe offers feasting in both air-conditioned comfort amidst its contemporary interior with really comfy chairs and spaciously laid-out tables. Alternatively diners can choose to al- fresco dine at its terrace and garden area surrounded by lush greenery and the calming sounds of water.

I know I would opt for outdoor dining anytime!

Mosaic – Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur – buffet & all day dining restaurant!

The last I dined at a buffet was during the crazy Ramadan period, where I sampled about 8 buffets, all in about 2 weeks. I missed 3, no thanks to a bout of UTI, and during that period I was stuck on hospital food for a week.

I was happy to go on a buffet binge again after so long, and I have just recommenced my buffet eating spree last Monday when I visited Mandarin Oriental’s spanking new all-day dining restaurant Mosaic.

A lover of choices (though I may not necessaarily eat them all), buffets are to me a great opportunity to sample cross-cultural cuisine – Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Malay, etc all at once and also not having to order full portions for everything.

But the ultimate draw factor? That’s undeniably for the Unlimited DESSERTS!

Say ‘hi’ to Mosaic’s GIANT MACARON CAKE.

Macarons. First they go mini, now they grow BIG.
I loved the dark chocolate filling and the crunchy macadamia nuts in this one. And no, of course I didn’t eat the whole thing! We cut out a slice, just as you would when you’re served with a whole cake.

Ramadan Buffet 2011 – Cinnamon Cafe, One World Hotel

I have read previous reviews on Cinnamon Cafe’s Ramadan Buffet last year & was suitably impressed.
In fact, it has left such an impression on me that I had always wanted to sample it myself.

The opportunity presented itself this year, when I was invited to sample the spread with some friends. I even got one of the bloggers to help me record a video (which will be uploaded soon!) of the marvellous spread here.

No Ramadan buffet above the price of RM60 should be without LAMB.
Below: Whole Roast Lamb With Roasted Vegetables And Briyani Rice And Sauce Condiments.

As the spread is the widest I have been so far, even more than Latest Recipe at Le Meridien and The Living Room, Westin KL, I will keep my description concise & let the pics do the talking.

Ramadan Buffet 2011 – One Malaysia Feast – The Mill @ Grand Millennium Hotel, Bukit Bintang

The One Malaysia Feast that’s available daily at The Mill, Grand Millennium Hotel’s trendy all-day dining restaurant offers a concentrated selection of really delicious & well prepared recipes versus quantity.

After chowing through numerous buffets lately with mind-boggling selections, I realized that while variety is good, Malaysian diners’ favourites remained at a few sections; mostly Japanese, roasted meats & then probably the section of Western cuisine. Italian (pasta & pizzas specifically) is another good bet. At the end of it all, delectable & gorgeous desserts rounded up the meal nicely.

And the best thing is? All of that was precisely what was offered at The Mill.

I walked in, and saw all my favourites – starting with the LAMB!!

Glistening, tender juicy slices of lamb got me salivating while I was busy clicking away with my camera. It tasted as good as it looks, and perfect with some mint jelly.

Ramadan Buffet 2011 : The Living Room, Westin KL

The Ramadan Buffet at the Westin stood out for me for one primary reason.

Yes, you saw right! DURIANS were part of the fruits spread!!! Not just ice cream, or cream, or pureed version, but actual pulps of sultry, creamy durians! HEAVEN!

Here I decided to get creative with my ais kacang.
Check out my masterpiece – dollop of icy ice-cream, all condiments available thrown in & top it up with pulps of durians! Who says only durian chendol works?

Many thanks to the friendly Chef who realized my affinity for durians, I was served 2 scoops of pungent creamy durian ice cream at my table too~

Fasting month is drawing closer as days goes by. It is a month where the Muslims will fast from dawn to dusk, refraining themselves from eating & drinking for almost 13 hours each day for 30 days. It is said to teach Muslims about patience & humility.

As a non-muslim, fasting month for me means Ramadhan bazaars! And Ramadan buffets!! Food, food, glorious food everywhere!
Hotels are known to take advantage of this holy month to serve special buffets at special prices for everyone! This includes Hilton PJ. Check out what they have in store for you this year!
