Now, isn’t Converse more of a brand of sneakers? Apparel too yes, but rock bands and photography?
A new initiative for 2010, Converse intends to ignite the Spark Creativity by getting people involved and engaged to “act”, to be inspired enough to create a unique and original piece of art. The global campaign celebrates everyday creatives and artists.
So hence The Converse Star: Youth & Decay Photography by David Corio.
The top 18 finalist. The pageant week will start by the first week of May and the winner will be crowned on 15th of May 2010.

My 1st visit didn’t got off to a very good start as we got lost though I followed the map on the website to the T.
So take my advice; forget the map.
A foolproof way would be to park in Hartamas Shopping Centre & to go to the 2nd floor where Starbucks is. Exit through the glass doors & you will see Aji Don Ramen. Proceed to the row behind it and turn right. Walk til the middle of the row, keeping a lookout for 2 big blue and white stripes umbrellas (which is quite obscure as well) on the opposite side. It is somewhere in the middle of the row.
Not familiar with HSC/Plaza Damas, we walked up & down the row a few times on our first visit. I would have hopped into other outlets (there’s quite a selection of eateries here) but the need to verify the claims of “best scones in Malaysia” and “superb sandwiches” had me obstinately thrudging up and down looking for The Haute Food Co.
Boy, was I glad when I finally spotted the entrance.

Come night time, this particular coffee shop which is famous for it’s Penang Hokkien Mee and Wan Tan Mee in the mornings is taken over by ONE stall – the Kam Heong Braised Duck. Do not expect roast ducks here, for they only sell the braised version with it’s carbo companions rice or porridge, & both best eaten with generous spoonfuls of flavoursome duck broth mixed in.
Open from 5pm onwards, this place fills up easily, and the crowd spills over to the side, front and it’s neighbouring shop’s walkway.
While duck meat are generally expensive, our meal for 2 cost us only RM8!
We had a serving of tender, slightly gamey but tasty duck meat, with a plate of aromatic rice, which I liked since it was not too oily or clumpy plus the porridge which was,.. well..porridge (I’m not a fan 😉 ).
I despise salted vegetables but I loved Kam Heong’s. It didn’t taste like salted vegetables at all! (which explains my zest 😀 ). Plus point was the bits of lard mixed in. The gizzards & liver has soaked in the flavours imparted by the duck broth. Even the chilli was worthy of mention, none of the sissified mix but with a bit of spicy kick.
All in all, it’s the perfect accompaniment to the rice & duck.
Another GREAT movie for the laughs!
It’s opening tomorrow at the cinemas! Do yourself a favour and go watch with your friends & family (err…not entirely suitable for kids under 15 me thinks!) and get the mood going for a good weekend ahead. Seriously, my foul mood evaporated after watching it. Haha.. it’s hard not to be feel lifted in spirits after watching it 😛
Let me warn you though, I watched this under press screening so I’m not sure if it’s censored crazily for the public screening. The language is foul, the kids in the movie sure doesn’t act like kids, the parent in the movie (Nicolas Cage) is definitely NOT a role model and the gore plus blood makes your eyes widen and your mouth hanging.
And though I hate “unrealistic”, “overboard” movies, I truly enjoyed this one. It’s funny (ok, I’m a sucker for humour), it does have touching human/moral elements & HIT GIRL is sooooo COOL!!
I generally hate kids, but I don’t mind a daughter like her (see below) . Cool eh???
Truth to be told, I do not believe in true love and all that jazz.
Yet I absolutely adore light-hearted, silly, preposterous romantic comedies. There are (at least to me) antidotes to the jaded worn soul, a stress-reliever after a long day/week’s work & it provides the excuse for one to laugh hysterically, which IMHO, the best medicine one should have at disposal in keeping all illnesses at bay.
Lotus Racing was officially born on September 12th 2009 when the FIA granted the new team its entry into the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship.
The brainchild of none other then our very own Dato Tony Fernandes, who together with fellow shareholders Kamarudin Meranun and SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin; lead a consortium of Malaysian business interests to join forces to provide initial funding for the team under the parent company 1Malaysia Racing Team.
While I have absolute ZERO interest in F1, the opposite can be said when it comes to the projects that Tony Fernandes gets involved in. One can’t deny that he is a formidable businessman, and he is one of the few Malaysian businessmen I respect.
And where’s Tony is involved, things moves speedily, hence barely 5 months later, the Lotus Cosworth T127 was completed at its UK base in Hingham, Norfolk.

I have been out and about.. and hardly far from my laptop. 😆
Tired out from the bus ride, I actually slept half the day yesterday! Major FAIL! I missed the chicken rice for lunch & ended up having this for lunch instead.
Not that I mind.. I love cakes!!
