Flavors of Hanami @ Isetan the Japan Store – RM100/workshop

Lot 10 KL has lost its tired look and besides H & M, it now boast of another attraction – a noteworthy “Japan town” of sorts that is a notch classier (read: expensive) than the regular Isetan.

The ridiculous prices may be justifiable though, for the quality and range of items sold here are definitely not run of the mill.

However, my favourite section of Isetan Lot 10 remains to be the foodcourt!
Heck, it seems to be everyone’s favourite too, for that is the busiest part of the whole building.

Not to be outdone, there are new food establishments opening on the 3rd floor within Isetan The Japan Store soon.

THE TABLE; the new restaurant floor featuring a collection of five (5) sophisticated Japanese restaurants including Sushi Azabu, a Michelin starred sushi establishment from New York loved by Hollywood celebrities, and Yakiniku Toraji, a globally known BBQ-style restaurant are making their debut in Malaysia this month.

Yeap, there are exciting times ahead for Lot 10.

Just end of last month I was invited to meet and experience Flavours of Hanami.

Rakuzen Japanese Dining – sashimi, sushi, set meals

When I revisited Ishin recently after 4 years (post HERE), I started to question the reason it has prospered despite the mushrooming of Japanese F & B outlets in the Klang Valley.
And I had wondered too how establishments like Rakuzen maintains its current amount of restaurants with each and every one of them thriving.

Ishin Japanese Dining @ Jalan Klang Lama

Still going strong after being in operations for almost 5 years does go a long way to prove the resilience of Ishin Japanese Dining.
There isn’t a shortage of Japanese outlets popping over the last half a decade, and the last I’ve been to Ishin was at least 4 years back.

I thought it was a good time to revisit since 4 years is a long time. Besides, I was curious as to how it lasted all these years, considering its location on one of the busiest roads in KL and from what I remembered, the pricing is pretty premium.

Hyotan Subang SS15 : Japanese Omakase for RM155++ for 2 pax!

RM155++ (RM190) for 2 pax for an Omakase meal?
Is this an early April Fool’s joke?

Well, folks, April is still a full 48 hours away so this isn’t a joke though I admit that I was personally just as taken aback as you are when I got wind of this promotion.

At that price point, this could very well be the cheapest Omakase in KL/PJ!

Oribe Japanese Restaurant KL – : Omakase and best Japanese set lunch

When I first lunched at Sushi Hinata, my big brother and I sat at the sushi bar and watched Chef Ori at work.
We feasted on one of the best Japanese meal we have had in a while (outside of Japan) and was thoroughly satiated with the omakase set.

No doubt it wasn’t cheap but you get what you pay for.
In fact, a mediocre meal in one of the Japanese restaurants in the Klang Valley could possibly be priced about 20% (or less) lower than Sushi Hinata and not quite 60% of Hinata’s standards.

SENYA Solaris, Publika – Aomori Fair & Facebook Contest

Aomori.
Now tell me, how many of you have heard of it?

I haven’t, not until I got to know about Aomori and its abundance of fresh produce.
I love Japan and I’ve learnt sometime ago that every part of the lovely country has its own wonderful produce to offer the world.

Japan’s celebrated ‘Ayu’ fish at TEN Japanese Fine Dining with Chef Chikara Yamada and Chef Hisashi Yamashita

Gifu prefecture of Japan held an exclusive 2-day only sampling of Japan’s highly celebrated ‘Ayu’ fish at TEN Japanese Fine Dining just last week.

Known for serving impeccable quality ingredients and meticulous food presentation, Ten Japanese Fine Dining Restaurant was the perfect location partner for this event. I was honored to be given a seat at the media lunch where over 2 hours I was served with dish after dish of exemplary quality ingredients prepared by the skilled chefs.

The 3 chefs responsible for our lunch was Chef Chikara Yamada and Chef Hisashi Yamashita, both who had flown in from Japan.
Last but not least is Chef Miyake, the chef of TEN Australia.
