Becky’s 1 Minute Summary:
What: Finely made dim sum; excellent in taste, generous portions, reasonable pricing and looks pretty too!
What to order here: 1st visit and I was suitably impressed. I enjoy every dim sum I tried and would list this as my favourite so far ( Disclaimer: I haven’t tried every outlet in Ipoh).
I was told that the must-trys are the pork pau but seriously, I doubt any of the dim sum here will disappoint you badly.
Overall experience: Really satisfied with what I had. I would certainly recommend Sun Kim Aik to my friends.
Price: Price starts from about RM3.50 per portion of dim sum. Some comes in sets of 3 pieces. Some 2. Just like any other dim sum outlet.

For my recent Ipoh trip, I had some dim sum at Ying Fa followed by another session at Chef Fatt. I was pretty satisfied at both, as the taste was pretty good in general and prices were fair.
However, as I stood in the midst of this bustling dim sum shop in Menglembu area I realized Sun Kim Aik is going to be of a completely different league all together.

Cronuts in Malaysia – Burps and Giggles Ipoh

I was in Perak (or Ipoh more specifically) 2 weeks back for the Adilfitri celebration with Tourism Malaysia. A good thing about the itinerary was there were a few hours free time in between official engagements, of which naturally I spent those precious hours food hunting.

Whenever I’m in Ipoh I’ve not failed to visit Burps & Giggles. I love the vibe of the place and how I could relax comfortably for hours with a dessert and a drink. Its quirky and colorful interior never failed to bring cheer to my day.

Somehow I find myself more attracted to Ipoh than any other town in Malaysia. A mix of the familiar, the nostalgic, the modern in addition to the the calm, serene pace, Ipoh is my choice if I need breather from KL.

Since I had the Volkswagen Beetle 1.2 TSI at my disposal with a tankful of fuel, it’s time to head out of KL!

Julie’s (of Indulgence Restaurant) latest venture has been enticing me for the longest time. If you don’t already know, Burp and Giggles (what an orginal name!) serves a medley of burgers with patties that are Julie’s very own recipes with freshly baked buns from her Indulgence Restaurant. Julie’s food has always been slightly on the high side for Ipoh, but that hasn’t bothered me much as I’m of the opinion that if you want Ipoh prices then there’s always hawker food. Moreover I have always been intrigued with her passion, creativity and originality in her ventures.
Her Indulgence Living is truly one of a kind, not just in Ipoh but in Malaysia. She was also the lone brave soul to start a luxury dining restaurant about a decade ago in this sleepy town of Ipoh and proved everyone who doubted that fine dining could command a steady business in Ipoh wrong.
