I was hosted for a tea session to enjoy the newly launched items by Din Tai Fung today.
Since it has been some time since I last stepped into Din Tai Fung, I was eager to sample the new items as well as to get myself reacquainted with their popular xiao long bao.

What: Non-halal. One of the top fine dining Chinese restaurant in KL serving modern Chinese gourmet delicacies.
What to order here: The focus of this review is on their 2014 CNY set menus so do refer to the attached menus below.
I would recommend going for the unconventional creations for an experience of Chef Frankie Woo culinary prowess.
Overall experience: Expect premium ingredients, aesthetically pleasing dishes and a good balance of modern and old time classics. Enjoy traditional Chinese specialities with fresh, updated twists as well Frankie’s creations influenced by Japanese and French culinary techniques.
Price: RM398++ (4 pax), RM598++ (6 pax), RM798++ (8 pax).

From the very first dish my eyebrows were raised with the sight of thin, wiry pipefish heaped on top of lettuce leaves circled with salmon slices.
No it couldn’t be, I’ve told myself, all the while staring wide-eyed at these seahorse-looking creatures on top of my yee sang.

Today’s review is focused on their 2014 CNY set menus and we sampled some of the set and ala-carte items.
Overall experience: Consistently good albeit ordinary dishes.
Price: RM2188, 2388++, RM2588++ sets. Each 9-course menu is quoted for a table of 10 persons and inclusive of a complimentary bottle of wine.
Ala carte dishes are priced from RM38++ onwards each.

Executive Chinese Chef, Vincent Loo and his talented team have created specially-designed ala carte and set menus for this festive season.
The ala carte items allows patrons to pick and choose and regulate the portion of food and budget while those who still prefers the ‘9-course menu for a table of 10’ arrangement can still select from the Wealth set menu, priced at RM2,188 nett or the Fortune set menu, priced at RM2,388++ or the Happiness set menu, priced at RM2,588++.
Yee Sang with a Combination of Japanese Maguro and Salmon with Traditional Plum Sauce.
Kudos to the kitchen team for taking the effort to form the chinese character in the middle. It does make the whole arrangement look so much prettier right? With the generous topping of 2 types of fresh fish, I certainly enjoyed this yee sang.

For Valentine Dinner, the one night only menu offers 4 courses that covers the basics of appetiser, soup, main and dessert.
Overall experience: This is my 1st time savouring dishes from the kitchen of the Nomad SuCasa All-Suite Hotel’s culinary team and my verdict is RM60+ is a darn good deal for what was served!

This Chinese New Year, hang a little loose and opt for buffet style reunion dinner. The Nomad SuCasa All-Suite Hotel’s culinary team presents you a scrumptious, reasonably priced buffet that will leave your stomach satisfied and pocket happy. For RM60.00+ per adult and RM38.00+ per child and per senior citizen I thought it is a good deal considering the unlimited portions available for you to eat to your heart’s content and the fact that all the necessary dishes are offered too.

I saw, tasted and found no fault in my meal this evening!
For fish, remember to select the Steamed Long Fu (hybrid of the dragon garoupa & tiger garoupa breed) stuffed with pork & prawn paste (refer my picture below).
Overall experience: This is my 1st time savouring Chef Wah’s dishes and I’m impressed. Based on feedback of the photos I have posted on FB/Instagram, many concurred with me that the food here is superb.
