The “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” theme park at Universal Studios Japan is the only one in Asia and second in the world after Orlando, Florida.
And guess what? I was there!

Now I have got the museums out of the way, post HERE and HERE (well, there’s another one on the Haenyo – Korean “sea women”, are female divers in the Korean province of Jeju but that can wait), let me get to the Jeju Island that I truly enjoy and love.
I had first planned to publish both Alive Museum and the Teddy Bear museum pictures together but halfway through the post I realized there are going to be too many pictures! You’re most likely going to get cramped fingers from scrolling all the way to the bottom and hence the separate postings for both museums.
Unlike any other museums, both venues are suitable for leisure viewing and are extremely photogenic places so be sure to visit them armed with a camera.
After I stumbled out from the Teddy Bear Museum our guide announced that we are heading to yet another museum. I cringed inwardly and couldn’t even muster fake enthusiasm.
Plan B in mind, I took my laptop with me and stepped down from the bus.
While I’m sorting through the glorious pictures of beaches, majestic volcano peaks and mysterious lava caves let me keep you entertained with some funny and light-hearted pictures of some of the attractions we went during our Air Asia X trip.
The Teddy Bear Museum is a popular attraction. Great hang out venue for couples, families and well, just about anyone who has a thing for teddy bears. I’m more on the nature side of things, and would probably spend all my days hiking, cycling, running, swimming on the beach and then pig out crazily on Jeju pigs; but it is understandable that a media trip should cover all aspects of a place; for we are not only writing for ourselves, but for all our readers as well.
Besides, I know there some of you who are teddy bear crazy! 🙂
What better post to start off my Jeju adventures if not for food? And this particular delicacy is a Jeju specialty; aptly named the Jeju Black Pig, a breed of domestic pig found on the Korean island.
The Jeju Black Pig is a small pig with black skin (hence the name) with smooth coat of hair. It has erect, unfolded ears and a narrow snout.
On the last day of our Chengdu trip, we had a late start to the day. I took advantage of the free time to visit the morning market. My guide Zhu kindly provided the address and forewarned me that the taxi fare from my hotel to Yu Lin market shouldn’t cost more than 15 RMB (RM7.50).
And thus I was up by 4am, finished a blogpost (one has to be disciplined even on a holiday) and ambled out to the front road of the hotel for a cab. I realized after 5 days here that it’s difficult to get around Chengdu or Shanghai (this is my personal opinion after my Shanghai trip earlier this year) if you do not know Mandarin. No wonder I don’t see many backpackers/foreign lone travelers around. It is definitely more advisable to stick to tours with an English speaking guide if you do not know Mandarin.
What else do people do in Chengdu besides pigging out on Sichuan food, numb their tongues and sweat over the hot pots and go oohh–ahhh over pandas?
Well, they go to opera houses and watch the mask changing performances!
