Singapore – Prince of Wales Backpackers’ Hostel & Pub

I love travelling backpacking, though I must admit my health is not as resilient as it was few years back. I used to be able to go without sleep for days, and shop for 14 hours straight (with food, but eaten on the go!). Now? 1 hour & I’m complaining & badly in need of a drink & a comfy sofa.

I just recovered from fever, after 14 straight hours of sleep. Thank god for a nice clean hostel and its pretty convenient location.

Prince of Wales Backpackers’ Hostel & Pub, (yes you read right, it’s a pub downstairs!) is in the Little India district and a mere 5mins light walk from the Little India (duh, what else?) MRT station.

While the name “Little India” doesn’t quite instill confidence in some, bear in mind that I would only consent to staying in Little India in SINGAPORE. Not anyway else.

Little India is a hustle & bustle of activity after 11am til late evening.

In Singapore again, backpackers’ style!

I’m in Singapore again! :yahoo:
And of course, you can expect me to be eating, blogging, partying and shopping my way through Singapore. Which reminds me, I still got so much to blog about since my last trip & even more from my previous previous trip HERE – read on how I got stranded at 5am in Sg!! :wacko:

Luckily, this time round, I wasn’t stranded nor did any untoward incidents happened to me. I’m now pretty set on taking only Sri Maju buses thru & fro Singapore. It’s been reliable & the chairs are really comfy.

For this trip, I’m staying in Singapore’s Little India district instead of with my friends. A short cab ride from Golden Mile complex (SGD4.80 – at the ungodly hour of 6am), the kind cab driver dropped me off at Tekka Centre, walking distance away from my hostel; since I proclaimed that I’m famished.

The Famous Geylang Lor 9 Frog Porridge, now in SS2, PJ!

The famous Geylang Lor 9 frog porridge is here in Malaysia, right at Jalan SS2/61 in PJ!

The small shoplot is located in the same row as Red Island cafe. Space-wise, it isn’t very big, with probably 15 tables and could seat 40 people comfortably at any one time. The interior is very clean, with an open kitchen where you could view your pots of porridge being prep up. Sadly though, there wasn’t any frog chopping action 😉

Pacific Coffee opens here in Malaysia!!

Pacific Coffee Company (Pacific Coffee), a premium coffeehouse from Hong Kong launched its Malaysian flagship outlet at IOI Boulevard. Other than this outlet, there is one at Pavilion KL as well, on the 2nd floor, near the banks.

License to indulge – Gelatomio Lounge, Pavilion, KL!

14 years ago, a suave Italian 😉 came to Malaysia and made Malaysia his home.
Like all others, he seeked the comfort of his country’s cuisine & FORTUNATELY for us, he did NOT open ANOTHER Italian restaurant.
Instead, he creates with his hands..lovely creamy gelato, the way he knows how, the way he recalls they were like in Italy & as authentically as possible despite being 9700km away from home.

Dr. Massimo Minecci started Gelatomio (aptly named My Gelato), from a humble 12 flavours shop to currently a gelati-empire boasting 60 flavours with outlets in Time Square, Subang Parade, Pavilion KL, Penang, Melaka and Johor.
He supplies approximately 70 major hotels and restaurants in KL which includes Shangri-La, Le Meridien, Pan Pacific, Prince Hotel, Hilton, G Hotel, chinoiz and espressamente.
