Considering my preference for round-bodied cars (think the Leaf, Beetle, DS3 – yes FAT, round, CUTE shapes) I surprised myself when I started speculating the thought of owning a Toyota VIOS TRD Sportivo.
No doubt I had enjoyed my time behind the wheel. Likewise also as a passenger.
I used to think that Chiangmai is a boring, laid-back and slow town.
I get excited instead with pulsating Bangkok; flashy lights, sea of humans and the spark of energy in the air.
Chiangmai in comparison is sedate.
But I won’t say it is boring anymore. Not the least.
Just a month back I was here for a Chiangmai- Pai – Bangkok trip with the Thailand tourism folks. I must been getting old; for the tranquility, placid and scenic leg of the trip turned out more appealing than shopping in Platinum Mall.
It was an educational “women’s day out” with Honda Malaysia at their recently organized ‘Be SAFE & SMART in STYLE with the All-New Jazz’ session.
The aim of the exercise was to educate the fairer gender the importance of being safe, smart and defensive on the road but in a outgoing and easy-to-digest manner.
This was achieved through a practical hands-on experience session with the versatile All-New Jazz plus a informative presentation by Harvinder of Driven and paultan.org.
So out of-the-blue one busy day, I was asked if I would be interested to head to Melaka with a bunch of lifestyle journalists for a drive with Ford.
My immediate reaction was “Media drive? Those guys drive like madmen” to “Good lord, I don’t have time“, followed by “Melaka…gula melaka…kuih…food..Pak Putra.. ” and then of course, “Oh, what Ford car is it?“.
In that order.
Given a choice, I’d pick a dog for a pet over a cat anytime.
I like myself lean, but my pets chubby. The ideal of a plump puppy enthusiastically greeting me upon my arrival home and doleful eyes watching over me in the house certainly appeals.
Felines are not my thing, but I allow an exception to this preference of mine when it comes to Jaguars.
It seems that my life is Volkswagen-fied recently. The Beetle was sometime back (you can read about it HERE) and the CKD Passat was just 3 weeks ago.
I have to be thankful that I somewhat got myself familiarize with the VW family after driving the Passat.
At least when I was behind the wheel for the Tiguan, I had better confidence as some of the functions are similar.
And by some stroke of luck I was partnered with Greg Yang, an old friend and he was understandably patient.
After 3 bloggers’s drive with the Honda Malaysia team, starting from the Honda Freed (a compact MPV), followed by the Honda Insight (hybrid and fuel efficiency) and now the 9th Generation Honda Civic, I’ll be lying if I say I’m not already looking forward to the next one! 🙂
