At Hayaki, the owners aim to bring the best out of Kelantan cuisine to Malaysians. Originating from said state located in the north-eastern corner of Peninsular Malaysia, Hayaki currently operates 3 outlets in Kota Bahru, state capital of Kelantan and 4 outlets in Kuala Lumpur.
A roofed but open air outlet in the midst of a Malay village, Sambal Hijau offers kampung (village) style Malay cuisine and a mix of Minang recipes.
The kampung (village) environment is a bonus and the outlet’s regulars love it precisely for the laid-back ambiance.
It is perfect for those who prefers not to be reminded too much of the city.
Lorong Seratus Curry Mee had its humble beginnings from Penang.
At the early stage of the business, it was just a hawker stall selling Curry Mee in the street named “Lorong Seratus Tahun” in Penang.
After forty years, the LST brothers cleverly expanded the business to a food and beverage outlet business model; which is essentially a café with fast service, WIFI and air conditioning.
They have since introduced their licensing system and have been encouraging like-minded entrepreneurs to share in their success and make LST a well-known Malaysian brand.

As mentioned in my previous post, I was hunting for affordable steaks and after leaving Siang @Sogo KL (check out my dim sum meal here) we were still feeling peckish so Karen suggested “some meat” for dinner.
The Ship was just on our way to the carpark.

As a Chinese halal roast meats were never a concern for me.
In fact when Roast Kitchen in TTDI first opened, I had even thought that the business wouldn’t last. I mean, what’s roast meat with char siew (BBQ pork) and siew yok (roasted pork belly)?
Now in their 3rd year of operations, I have obviously been proven wrong. And thankfully so.

From a simple hawker stall back when it started in 1992, Sany Char Kuey Teow is now a proper eatery with an open kitchen and its own floor space.
They have a big signboard up, but since it isn’t exactly a brick and mortar restaurant or outlet your best landmark is the Penang Snake Temple in Bayan Lepas.
It is an open air, roofed eatery just a few steps away.
The KL Restaurant Week allowed me to discover or rather, got me off my procrastinating behind to try out some outlets that I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise.
Two such restaurants were the Midi 57 and here at DV Ristorante.
