Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur – Traditional mooncakes (2015)

So, have you done all the prerequisite mooncake shopping and giveaways this year?
I have.

I’m all for the unique and creative flavours but those usually are the snowskins. The traditional baked ones travel better, so as gifts, that would be my first consideration.
Naturally, for gifts the packaging matters too.

The Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur is highly favourable in my list for its daily buffet at The Mill. For the price charged, it offers both quality and quantity, which I believe something that most consumers want.
It’s Chinese restaurant is well known for its delectable dim sum, which funnily enough I’ve not tried til recently.
Based on reliable feedback from friends and my own tasting of a few dim sum offered for lunch on my recent visit, I’ll say the reviews were pretty spot on.

But I had to leave space to taste their mooncakes this round. And the emphasis for their repertoire yearly is the traditional.

Ramadhan Buffet 2012 : The Mill, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur

** For more Ramadhan reviews click HERE –> Ramadhan Buffets – Where’s your favourite?

Some people asked me, after eating almost 15 Ramadhan buffets in almost all the hotels in KL, which is the best?
It was a imminent question really, one that I foresee to be one of my blog’s FAQ of the year. After all, it’s understandable that most people would want to head over to the best of the best Ramadhan buffet in town.

While JW Marriot was close, it was The Mill, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur that impressed me the most. I won’t say it was 100% perfect (frankly, there are always hits and misses in buffets) but since almost all the sections managed to please my rather fussy palate; I rate this one higher than the rest.

Below: The rather juicy, tender lamb. The best I had so far.

Another reason why I would recommend The Mill at Grand Millennium is for the variety as well. From the lamb to the curries, Japanese and even the desserts, this spread wasn’t only covering the traditional delicacies but boasts of a rather extensive medley of western and Asian cuisine as well.
I trust this is ideal as diners would have more options; and not to mention loads more food to enjoy for the price paid!

Ramadan Buffet 2011 – One Malaysia Feast – The Mill @ Grand Millennium Hotel, Bukit Bintang

The One Malaysia Feast that’s available daily at The Mill, Grand Millennium Hotel’s trendy all-day dining restaurant offers a concentrated selection of really delicious & well prepared recipes versus quantity.

After chowing through numerous buffets lately with mind-boggling selections, I realized that while variety is good, Malaysian diners’ favourites remained at a few sections; mostly Japanese, roasted meats & then probably the section of Western cuisine. Italian (pasta & pizzas specifically) is another good bet. At the end of it all, delectable & gorgeous desserts rounded up the meal nicely.

And the best thing is? All of that was precisely what was offered at The Mill.

I walked in, and saw all my favourites – starting with the LAMB!!

Glistening, tender juicy slices of lamb got me salivating while I was busy clicking away with my camera. It tasted as good as it looks, and perfect with some mint jelly.

Zing Restaurant, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur

Having read so many reviews of Zing, I have been most curious to sample the non-halal cuisine here, especially so for the dim sum.
While I missed out on the dim sum this round, I was given a treat of a set lunch specially prepared by Group Master Chef Chan Kwok, featuring Roasted Suckling Piglet with Prawn Paste and Crispy Fresh Crab Meat Spring Roll combination, Double Boiled Baby Superior Shark’s Fin with ‘Ling Zhi’ and Chicken, Grilled Crystal Prawn with Yunnan Ham, Stewed Lamb Shank with Chinese Parsley, Minced Pork Fried Rice and Preserved Radish and Mango puree with sago served with pomelo.
