Cheesecake in KL: Birch DC Mall, The Tokyo Restaurant @ Isetan The Japan Store

Cheesecake.
Plain, flavoured, baked or chilled, everyone I know enjoys a good cheesecake every now and then.

There was once the craze for jiggly, soft Japanese cheesecake. Now it seems that the spike of interest is centred around the burnt cheesecake, an adaption of sorts (or copy) from the famous version at La Vina, a tapas bar in San Sebastian, Spain. Many had proclaimed it to be the best cheesecake ever.

I’m super particular about my cheesecake, so much so that I’ve enjoyed very few cheesecakes in KL.

Taiwan Original Cake @ Sunway Velocity – cheap and good!

The queue at this Taiwan Original Cake in Sunway Velocity was all over social media for the past few weeks.

That also meant an infinite stream of opinions on whether the queue is justified and if the cake is nice.

Salted egg yolk ice cream – would you try?

While we are on the same “egg-citing” subject of salted egg yolks, I came up with some ideas of possibly tasty creations that made use of salted egg yolks.
Someone I know is competent on the art of making ice cream so I asked if he/she would be keen to take up the challenge of making a salted egg yolk version and test the market.

Every Sundae @ Damansara Uptown for gelato, waffles, coffee and cakes!

And so the gelato maestro of Klang Valley decided to open another outlet at Damansara Uptown, this time focusing on gelato-soft serve hybrid thrown together with the “in and popular” choices of the current dessert craze.

Thus if you can’t decide which is your favourite; a crispy waffle, a soft crepe or a crumbly cookie, you can have them all (or one) as your base, followed by 4 choices of currently available soft serves and have your chosen creation topped with 6 different toppings followed by 6 different sauces.

All in all, there are many possible permutations of desserts here at Every Sundae.

A fan of waffles (or rather I didn’t like anything else on the menu), I chose that as my base.
The limited selection of only 4 flavours for the soft-serve had me stumped for a while, but in the end I decided on the Raspberry Cinnamon Sorbetto after much pondering, and after much assurance by the staff that it is not too icy.

After gushing about the delicious-ness of Uncle Tetsu’s Signature Cheesecake (link), I vowed to try the Uncle Tetsu Cheese Zuccoto Cheesecake.
However, procrastination and a hectic schedule set in.

This week, I finally went over to pick up 2 Cheese Zuccoto Cheesecake courtesy of Uncle Tetsu. I also managed to sample the Signature Cheesestick.

Cafe hop KL: Good waffles @ Brewmen, Solaris Mt Kiara

The waffles is suddenly “hip” again.
The resurgence of this familiar grid-shaped and golden brown crispy cooked batter was in tandem with the pop-ups of the caffeine joints all over Klang Valley.
Since almost every cafe serves breakfast platter, sandwiches and cakes, some decided that maybe, waffles could set them apart.
The plain waffle is the perfect foil for almost any ingredients so we started seeing waffles with savoury items like sausages and bacon. Some decided that bacon and ice cream works.

I like my waffles a bit dense compared to the much favoured light, crispy ones. The best waffles I’ve had was not surprisingly, in Belgium.
But I understand the limitations of being in Malaysian, so I wasn’t demanding Belgium waffles, but a one with a substantial bite at least.
